Sony Online Entertainment has launched an official Web site for EverQuest II, its upcoming online role-playing game sequel. The new site contains an overview of the game's features and setting, answers to frequently asked questions about the game, a gallery of screenshots and concept images, and a downloadable wallpaper image.

EverQuest II is the follow-up to EverQuest, the groundbreaking massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Verant Interactive. Like its predecessor, the new game is set in the medieval fantasy world of Norrath, but it takes place long after the events depicted in the original game. It will feature a completely new 3D engine, new spells, quests, and events, and the option for characters to own real estate and command ships. It will also include a new branching character class structure, more customization options, and a new nonconfrontational character advancement system for new classes such as the tradesman.

EverQuest II is scheduled for release in winter 2003. We've posted some new screenshots in the gallery above that show off some of the game's creatures and environments. For more information, take a look at our in-depth interview with the developers and visit the new official Web site.
