EverQuest expansion to include bonus in-game item

The retail version of the upcoming Lost Dungeons of Norrath expansion will include a collectible key chain and an in-game item.

Sony Online has announced a new type of promotion for its upcoming EverQuest expansion. Those who purchase the retail version of Lost Dungeons of Norrath will receive an in-game item: the magical satchel of Abu Kar, which can carry eight small- to large-sized items and reduces the weight of its contents by 25 percent. The satchel will be a no-drop "lore" item that only one character can have per account. The expansion will also come with an EverQuest-branded key chain.

"This is a real first for us, since we've never given away an in-game item before" said Don Vercelli, Sony Online's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "It's very important for us to support our retail customers and we feel that the combination of both the in-game item and the key chain in the box will be a great incentive for EverQuest fans."

When EverQuest: Lost Dungeons of Norrath is released later this year, it will add more than 40 new dungeons to Sony Online's online role-playing game that small player groups can enter for a private adventure tailored to the abilities and levels of the characters in the group.
