Sony Online Entertainment has announced that EverQuest Online Adventures is currently in development for the PlayStation 2. EverQuest Online Adventures will be an original EverQuest game that takes place 500 years before the original game. Character creation will be similar to that of the PC game with nine playable races, 13 classes, and customizable faces, hair, and gender. The world in which the game takes place will be 360 square miles, and unlike the PC version of EverQuest, there will be no transitional load times. There are also plans to include nine different cities, eight forms of terrain, and a world that will reportedly need no upgrades or add-ons. Quests, which have been designed to promote player interaction, will make it into the final game as well.

Sony will set up dedicated servers for EverQuest Online Adventures so that 56K modem users will have a relatively enjoyable experience. The game will also be completely plug and play, meaning that players will be able to play the game and jump right in.

EverQuest Online Adventures is scheduled for release in Q2 2003.
