EverQuest add-on unveiled

Sony Online Entertainment has unveiled EverQuest: The Planes of Power, the upcoming fourth expansion to its popular online role-playing game EverQuest. The new add-on will let high-level players travel to new planes of existence where they can interact with the most powerful deities in Norrath, EverQuest's persistent online gameworld.

The expansion's storyline will take players on an adventure through the Planes of Power, which are the home to the gods of Norrath. Players will have the chance to battle the forces of Rallos Zek in the Planes of War, help Karana regain control of the Plane of Storms, and try to survive the vile Plane of Disease. In addition, players of all levels will have access to the Plane of Knowledge, which will include a number of new quests and special portals that make traveling through the world of Norrath significantly easier.

EverQuest: The Planes of Power will include 18 new planar zones filled with hundreds of new items, monsters, and quests. Players will access these planes through two new planar cities, and the expansion's central storyline will link the content of all zones into one epic quest. In addition, the new expansion lets characters become even more powerful through further character progression.

EverQuest: The Shadows of Luclin added a new graphics engine, a new playable race, mounts, and the moon of Luclin.

Sony Online will officially announce EverQuest: The Planes of Power on Monday. We'll post more information on the expansion as it becomes available.
