ESL Announce Second 2014 CS:GO $250,000 Major At GamesCom

After the success at Katowice earlier this year, ESL will be hosting their second major of the year in August at one of the largest gaming expos of Europe

After being in the dark for quite some time following the successful IEM Katowice CS:GO major finally word has arrived on the next installment of the biggest tournament series of CS:GO to date. In August, from the 13th through the 17th, the tournament will take place at one of the largest gaming expos of Europe, GamesCom, which sees several hundreds of thousands visitors each year.

Announced to be at the event are the eight top teams of the Katowice major, as well as an additional eight teams which will be qualifying for the tournament through various routes. Six of the qualifier slots go out to European teams, while one is reserved for a North American candidate and another for the SEA region.

The prize pool will be distributed as it was in the previous two CS:GO Majors, with first place taking home $100,000.

The eight currently invited teams are:

  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • TEAMGLOBAL
  • Dignitas
  • CompLexity
  • HellRaisers
  • Fnatic
  • LDLC.com
