Master modder Eddie Zarick, whose previous creations include PlayStation 4 and Xbox One laptops, has revealed his latest work, and it's the grandest of them all. The PlayBox is a custom-made laptop that combines rivals consoles PS4 and Xbox One into a single 22" laptop form factor.

Writing on his website, Zarick says he built the console mod specifically for a customer, and does not plan to produce more units unless they are requested. Due to the "high cost and complexity of the process," the PlayBox will cost substantially more than his previous creations, Zarick said.

As for the console mod itself, as you can see in the image above and at left, the PS4 sits on the left-hand side of the unit, while the Xbox One is on the right. The entire unit requires only one power cord, though just a single system (PS4 or Xbox One) can be powered on at once so that the unit doesn't overheat.

Zarick did need to make some compromises in the PlayBox's development. For example, the USB ports on the side of the Xbox One are inaccessible, though all other input sources are free and available.

To go between PS4 and Xbox One, all you need to do is flip a switch on the back of the unit. What's more, the unit comes with a smart HDMI switcher that can automatically detect which unit is powered on.

Zarick says the only major issue he encountered with the mod came down to the PS4's power button, which doesn't work consistently due to interference with the Xbox One. However, he points out that the PS4 turns on just fine using the DualShock 4 controller.
