Westwood Studios today announced that Emperor: Battle for Dune has shipped to stores. The game is Westwood's first 3D real-time strategy game, and it is set in the Dune universe of the sci-fi movie based on Frank Herbert's series of novels. In the game, players assume control of one of three main factions--the Atreides, Harkonnen, or Ordos--each of which has a unique set of units, structures, and abilities. In addition, players can form alliances with several smaller factions, including the Tleixu, Ix, Fremen, Guild, and Sardaukar. The game includes 33 different maps across five different planets and more than 100 missions.

Emperor: Battle for Dune will be available in stores on June 14 for an approximate retail price of $45.
