Emma Watson Chooses Between Mario and Sonic in First "Circle" Trailer

The first trailer for the intriguing-looking thriller The Circle has come online. Harry Potter alum Emma Watson plays a character who gets a job at a tech company called the Circle. As the trailer shows, part of the interview process was a speed-round where she had to choose between Mario and Sonic.

"Early Sonic, late Mario," she says with a laugh about her preference.

Based on the novel by Dave Eggers, the film also features Star Wars actor John Boyega as another Circle employee, while Tom Hanks plays the company's Steve Jobs-like founder.

His ambition seems to be total transparency, which is made possible in part by what are referred to as "SeeChange" cameras. As explained by USA Today, these are tiny cameras that can fit anywhere, capable of transmitting real-time footage anywhere. What could go wrong?

"The Circle is probably like many tech companies, pushing the ethical boundaries over how much autonomy and freedom we should have and how much privacy we should have," director James Ponsoldt told USA Today.
