Electronic Arts today announced a three-year deal with Talladega Superspeedway to sponsor its fall NASCAR Winston Cup Series race. The EA Sports 500, as the race will be called, will take place at the Talladega racetrack in Alabama on October 21.

Electronic Arts is the third sponsor in the track's 32-year history. The company has been involved with NASCAR for five years, and it has developed and published numerous stock-car racing games on a variety of platforms, including the PC, the Sony PlayStation 2 and PlayStation, and the Nintendo 64. EA Sports is currently developing NASCAR Thunder 2002 for the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation, and the Microsoft Xbox. The games are scheduled for release this fall.
