Electronic Arts Steps Into the Ring

THQ's loss is EA's gain as the company that recently paid millions for a Tiger Woods endorsement snares the WCW license.

Electronic Arts will announce later today that it has secured a five-year licensing agreement with World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

An Electronics Arts spokesperson told GameSpot News Wednesday morning that its first WCW title should reach gamers in mid-1999. EA plans to publish wrestling titles for PC gamers as well at N64 and PlayStation platforms.

THQ announced just yesterday that it had lost the license.

THQ and EA do have an ongoing business relationship: Last year THQ published five EA sports titles for the Genesis system, and this year, THQ will be publishing EA's Road Rash and Nuclear Strike for the Nintendo 64.
