The game formerly known as Elebits will now be known as Eledees in Europe. A spokesperson for its publisher, Konami, said, "We needed a game name that could be used all over Europe." The game, which was released in the US in December 2006, is slated for a second-quarter release in the UK. The game will be Konami's debut title for the Wii platform. In Elebits/Eledees, players take on the role of a young boy called Kai, who must search for and capture mysterious creatures. There are 25 stages in the single-player mode and more than 15 different types of creatures, each of which will require a different strategy to catch. There will also be a multiplayer mode, which supports up to four players, and an edit mode, where users can create their own stages, goals, and gameplay parameters, which can then be traded using Nintendo's WiiConnect24 service.
bit is a slang term for penis in french so it could look like "and the penis or et le bits. And if any mod is thinking of deleting this for me using to word penis grow up.
names arent everything. this is the same company that went from revolution to wii. im sure its still a great game and the name wont change it
I had a feeling that it was Spain because of other prodect changes. but hey we will get good voice actting and hopefully a better script!
WHY WAS IT CHANGED? I'll tell you: According to my sources, it's got nothing to do with 'Bit', an ancient and totally forgotten slang phrase. Actually it's because there's a Spanish cartoon called, annoyingly, 'Elebits'. Copyright reasons. As Europe is lumped into one (even though Spain barely has a videogame industry), we all got stuck with Eledees.
Here's Joystiq's possible explanation: "Bit: Noun. A woman. Abb. of 'bit of fluff' or 'bit of skirt', generally a person viewed sexually. Derog. Well, thank goodness they caught that one. Countless many people would have been left disappointed after learning that Elebits doesn't involve you lifting up skirts with a gravity beam." Yep, that's right. It's an underused, slightly dirty British slang word. It seems a bit silly, doesn't it?
Eledees? I hope Australia keeps Elebits as the title. Europe always seem to change game titles...icky...anyway Elebits sounds better.
-_- And also, instead of powering electrical devices, they sweep chimneys. They changed them to "Eledees", but they don't bother to change the kid's name? Kai doesn't sound very European... Nintendo_Man - In Australia, Elebits will be called "Chuzzwuzzlers".
Elebits sounds better than Eledees when you say it. When you say Elebits, the "bits" part comes out naturally. But when saying Eledees, the "dees" part is hard to say.
I don't care about the name change, I just want the game :( Why must every European localization take so long!
Ok, so what country is the word " Elebits " a swear word or dirty word? I think they should have re-named it "WinkeyBITS" hahahahahaah
God knows why they've changed the name!!!? Maybe its a publicity stunt to get people hooked and intrested in it
"We needed a game name that could be used all over Europe." is that all the explaination they are going to provide? sounds stupid
Dee Dee Dee. Jk Eledees? Change a game for a different Country? Crazy. Unlless there's something else the US version won't have that will be in the Euro Version. It's kinda of weird.
That is a terrible new name, i seriously hope the name remains as Elebits in Australia as we don't need a name change. Plus i see the game has been delayed again, no wonder Atari is losing money when they cannot release the games on time.
It's a naughty word... like Contra was! The word Contra scared Germany apparently, as does a silly mediocre survival horror game involving children. Boo!
I must be dislexic, I thought that said, "Elebits renamed for Euro disease". Still, "Eledees"? Interesting move.
Did I miss the part where they explain why 'elebits' was not a good name for Europe? I like to know these things!
No wonder people think Nintendo is kiddy they name the console wii and they have a game called eledees.
I don`t know why, but to me Eledees sounds better than Elebits. Maybe because I`m European? Wow, I didn`t know Konami had a name Genie or something to tell them which name sounds better to each nation or continent.
is it just me or is this new name reminds us of the transvistie in little britian "im a ladeeee" it now be im Eledee" ok without the s :S
WTF??? 2ND QUARTER OF 2007? Bull crap! Why do us Europeans get everything last? They treat us like crap! Why the hell should we have to wait another 6 months and get yesterdays toys. Seriously Nintendo, you're taking this too far now, first Mario Hoops and Star Fox Command being delayed 5/6 months was annoying, NOW THIS? WHAT IS YOUR EFFING PROBLEM?
I still HATE the name "Wii" I think it is an embarrassment to NIntendo and to the publics perception of games. off topic I know, it just irks me
Does it have anything to do with my "bits and pieces".....................................................................................................................................................................................................................Austin Powers quote
Eledees? Hmm... Maybe it's because I'm used to the name "Elebits," but Eledees doesn't sound all that great to me. Meh.
