Elder Scrolls Online expands closed beta

Bethesda will send out more invitations, following this week's initial batch.

The closed beta world of The Elder Scrolls Online is about to get a little more crowded.

The online realm of Tamriel is going to get busy.

Bethesda announced on its official site that it has sent out another round of beta invites for the PC version of its upcoming MMORPG, to help gather more feedback on specific game features. Players are encouraged to check their email addresses, particularly spam folders.

Even if players do not receive an invitation to take part this time around, Bethesda has assured gamers that the beta will continue to grow, and will eventually send out more invites in the future. In the meantime, players can check out GameSpot's recent coverage of the MMO.

so hear there are hot bars with cool downs on skills.. sounds like been there done that content what happened to real time like in elderscrolls?? that would have been an innovation.

so you level by zone then move on to other zones..

yawn... been there done that.   ill just pretend one of the many other mmos that already work the same way.

VanOrd was disappointed with what he saw of this game at E3 so that's not a good sign. This might turn out generic and boring.

Zenimax sucks. I'm not even that hyped after I've seen that horrible leaked 20 min gameplay, its still on the web if you have not seen it yet.
And not to mention the awful combat system.

Me and a buddy, we applied for FF: A Realm Reborn and both got invited after just few days...

I wish that most people actually used the beta for what it was intended.  It seems like 99% of the people who want a beta invite just want it to see if the game is fun, or because they don't want to wait until it is released to play it.  The beta should be about people wanting to test for bugs and improve how the game will be when it is released.

just don't go all blizzard on us cause those fucks turned to shit after having too much money

I left World of Warcraft because I was not only tired of the game, but because I was tired of the style of play (as well as fantasy theme). I will be waiting for something truly different like Star Citizen. Not this WOW clone.

It is just more of the same unless they add things like base building, base auto defenses that can be upgraded, or even stuff like player housing, etc.

Anyone invited to the beta, who doesn't mind giving their invite to someone else. Feel free to inbox me with it, I would be eternally grateful!

"Particularly spam folders"?

Are they the ones sending me emails about 'Special Enchantment To Increase The Size Of Your Sword'?

Game looks great, I got bored of Skyrim after 50 hours and completing the main quest line, so heres hoping the online portion will make it more fun.

Please don't be free to play. I am extremely excited for this game and making it free to play unless they do it like GW2 were you buy the game it will completely ruin it. It's the main reason I don't play SW:TOR anymore. Pay to win is not cool.

Dota 2 will be free to play and the only items you buy are cosmetics. That i am ok with, you get every single hero available and all game content and there are no annoying boosters.

Come on Bethesda I'd rather pay £10 a month.

I don't really care as long as they don't plan to scrap elder scrolls 6, look at wow, they no longer make warcraft games, it's all done in an mmo.

I just don't care about this game anymore.

How does this stack up against Elder Scrolls actual? Is just like the proper games, but with a diffrent combat style, charicaturish visuals and lots of people questing together and trading?

@Daian Who is VanOrd? Why should we give a damn about his opinion?

bobbo888

@Daian idk man I read an article on escapist magazine and the guy reviewing the gameplay said he was incredibly immersed in the game.

bruta

@Daian its swtor all over again, hype hype hype then 1 month of 'lets check it out' and the end.

they didnt have the balls to show some real gameplay at e3, that short presentation was 99% only cinematics garbage.

alpha_unit97
alpha_unit97

@bruta You're an idiot If you're making a decision based on that leaked video, not only was it an extremely early build (looked like alpha to me), but the guy playing was actually trying to make the game look as bad as possible (just running around killing rats with only one attack etc.) The developers even said themselves, the game is still open to radical change, so if I were you, I would make my decision when the game actually releases...

@vadagar1 Actually they turned to shit just to get more money...then after that they got worse.

@YEPEE00 It doesnt work that way. Im playing online games since "Ultima Online Beta". But participated almost all closed betas and some alphas. But still no invite from Zenimax.

@eddieham13 last time i checked, they had no plans for f2p.

If they change their minds in the coming months, i'd take it as a sign of failure.

@Deano That for me all depends on how well Elder Scrolls Online does. I personally think Skyrim was a massive disappointment and the only people I've really seen who have poured tonnes of hours into it are the ones who modded it until it didn't even resemble Skyrim any more. They need to upgrade more than just the size of the map especially since most of the map was empty in Skyrim (unless you modded it) and most caves/dungeons were so dull (unless you moddded it) that it kind of made it boring to explore. Which is the ENTIRE point of Elder Scrolls Games!

arqe

@The-Neon-Seal Same as Elder Scrolls but there are lots of people instead of NPC.

Aaronp2k

@alpha_unit97 @bruta I agree, the leaked gameplay was even more boring than the e3 preview lol and that is saying a lot. I think eso will be a wow killer in all honesty.

@stev69 @bruta really? I like the new FFXIV it's much better than before. there's a lot of running around in the beginning but once you get past that it's better

@belgard1299 @TheOnlyConan from some part GW2 is different but making bored as well:( and like we all we want something new skyrim online have potential dont know game style there

Star Citizen is what i waiting so long because that is what i want long long time

eddieham13
eddieham13

@Dannystaples14 @Deano I am sure it will be better this time around just because of the scale of the game. This will be more long term so they are gonna invest more time in content. At least that's what you'd think they'd do :p

I personally like the creepy things that you find in the game like a small village that sneaks to a cave every night to cannibalise people haha. It was one of my favourite parts of Fallout 3 actually when you find those two small families that offer you strange meat pies, and you see them leave their house with knives at night.

Aaronp2k

@stev69 @bobbo888 im sorry but he is right, it is pretty generic. its also heavily based on tera's game mechanics, but tera does it a lot better. only thing it does better than tera is dialogue and story telling.

stev69
stev69

@bobbo888 I didnt play it before how it is now so ive nothing to compare it to, all I do know is that it involves so much fetch and carry and kill x amount of this and x amount of that, that it sends me to sleep.

If this is much better than before, then it must have truly sucked before is all I can say, because its really boring now.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@MooncalfReviews Yeah I felt they were a little too rare though unfortunately. It almost felt like there is no point going down this cave because I'll only end up with junk loot and chances are I won't see anything of interest.

Skyrim was such a surprise to me in fact I was wondering to myself why I played Oblivion so much. Did I even like Oblivion? Who am I?

Aaronp2k
Aaronp2k

@lo_crow98 @MooncalfReviews @The-Neon-Seal it infuriates me how people always peg this game as a wow clone, even though it is entirely different from any mmo (full on real-time combat). Even tera which boasted real-time combat let me down, since you had to wait for powerups to charge and so on. I guarantee there will be no mmo like elder scrolls online, and dare say it may even become the new wow.
