Eidos Interactive has announced its upcoming economic strategy game, Trade Empires. The game is currently in development at Frog City Software, the studio that created the Imperialism turn-based strategy series. Trade Empires will begin at the dawn of human civilization. Players will control a small trading establishment and will be able to build a successful commercial empire over thousands of years. The object of the game will be to buy low and sell high, and it will feature a wide variety of products and distribution networks. As the game progresses, the population of the world will have different demands, and the player will have to find new products and ways to distribute them.

Trade Empires will be based on a series of episodes. Each episode will encompass a different period of time, either depicting a specific historical situation or covering a longer period of time that includes numerous technological advancements.
