Eidos has announced that it will release Swingerz Golf for the GameCube under its Fresh Games label. The game is arcade-influenced and will feature easy controls with cartoon characters and realistic physics. There will be six different courses in the final version of the game, and they'll be spread out over a wide variety of terrain, including desert environments and English-style courses with deep rough and intimidating bunkers. There will be four primary gameplay modes, including stroke, tournament, match, and short course. There will also be par-three courses to play, as well as a variety of minigames such as "closest to the pin."

"Eidos is pleased to include Swingerz Golf in the Fresh Games lineup," said Mike McGarvey, CEO of Eidos Interactive. "The addition of this game to our Fresh Games portfolio reinforces our devotion to bringing high-quality Japanese games to the US market. Swingerz Golf, one of the first golf games on the GameCube, is sure to be a hit with gamers and golf fanatics of all ages."

The game will feature 14 selectable characters, including bikers and military soldiers, and each character will have a set of unique abilities. There will also be six selectable caddies that will offer advice during gameplay. The swing mechanism utilizes the GameCube controller's C stick, and the game will feature a wide variety of difficulty settings and gameplay parameters to make it suitable for players of all skill levels. New golf gear is awarded for winning tournaments, and players can save replays of particularly impressive shots.

Swingerz Golf is currently scheduled for release in the fall. We'll have more on the game when it becomes available.
