The Sims faithful may currently be fixated on The Sims 3, with its 1.4-million-unit debut on the PC last month, but EA also has a number of other titles in the franchise on the horizon. Today, the publisher offered word on one of those spin-off franchises, announcing that SimAnimals Africa will be available on the Wii and DS this fall.

SimAnimals Africa will follow the same general mechanics as its predecessor--which debuted earlier this year--in which animals can be tamed and controlled in their natural habitats. In the family-friendly sequel, gamers can control zebras, rhinos, and crocodiles in order to keep the peace in savanna and jungle habitats. According to EA, the DS edition of the game will feature a menagerie of exclusive animals.
