EA signs publishing agreement with Fox

Electronic Arts has announced that it has secured the worldwide publishing rights to several Fox Interactive games, including Aliens: Colonial Marines for the Sony PlayStation 2, The Simpsons Road Rage, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the Microsoft Xbox. Specific financial terms for the multiyear agreement were not disclosed.

"EA is pleased to extend our current publishing relationship with Fox Interactive to a worldwide scale and have such pop culture icons as The Simpsons, Aliens, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer under our publishing umbrella,'' said Tom Frisina, Electronic Arts' vice president of distribution. "We look forward to leveraging our global distribution strength to maximize exposure for these quality titles.''

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person squad-based shooter, which will be released for the Sony PlayStation 2 this fall. Further games based on the Aliens movies are currently in development and will be released on multiple next-generation platforms. The Simpsons Road Rage is a free-form racing game featuring a full Simpsons storyline. The game is currently in development for the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Microsoft Xbox. A new, unannounced Simpsons-based game is currently in development for the PS2 and will be released in 2002. Finally, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a third-person action-adventure game. In the game, players assume the role of Buffy Summers, and the game's secondary characters and plot will be based on the third season of the TV show. Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be released for the Microsoft Xbox in 2002.

Electronic Arts plans to showcase both Aliens: Colonial Marines and The Simpsons Road Rage at the upcoming E3 in Los Angeles.
