EA named Bay Area "Top Workplace" for 2013

New employee survey from Bay Area News Group names Battlefield, FIFA publisher a top employer in northern California area.

Battlefield and FIFA publisher Electronic Arts has been named a Bay Area "Top Workplace" for 2013 by a new employee survey from the Bay Area News Group.

A survey conducted by WorkplaceDynamics identified EA as a company where "employees feel inspired, and are given the room to do great things."

A total of 1,425 companies took part in the survey, and 95--across large, midsize, and small sectors--were recognized in this year's list. EA was the only game company to be named to the list.

EA was also recently named the "Worst Company in America" by consumer affairs blog the Consumerist.

Wait. So... they're good to their own employees, but bad for us consumers. It's best to work for them, but it's the worst thing to buy from them. Umm, I can't even...

Top Workplace but Worst Company...nice creds. Seems that the people surveyed aren't really happy to be working for EA, they are just happy someone hired them.

With a place that just about always has a part time open every other day? Well, you'd think they were a Work Today, Get Paid Today Agency! XD

WOOT! Happy for ya EA! Keep up those record layoffs! You finally achieved "Best" in something after all these years! *wipes away tears of joy* So. Proud. *sniff*

Didn't EA just lay off a bunch of people? Fill out a negative survey, lose your job lol.

All thse company surveys are just plainly complete bullocks or filled in by absent minded... The fact that EA was picked Worst company of the year (twice I believe even) just shows the incompetence of the people filling in these forms. FYI they were picked worst company around the same time as things as the BP oil disaster etc. , the fact that people actually pick EA over that, no matter what they hate about them, is plainly ridiculous.

Bet they filled those forms with the guns stuck to their heads.

EA probably made sure they wouldn't win worst consumerist and worst workplace at the same time....by paying people some cash $$$.

thats EA headquarters, so they gotta hold up an image. They probably just farm out the suck to all their other locations where the real work is done...

EA Manager: "Ok guys, the survey is out, it's completely confidential... if we get a bad score, you're all fired".

Employees vote for "best work place", anonymous internet neck beards vote for "worst company". I know loads of people that work at EA here in Vancouver, they love their company. EA employees don't hate EA.

Guys I'm pretty sure you can assume response were anonymous. Otherwise whats the point in wasting all the time and money in the survey.

Long story short, don't work in the Bay Area. Or at least, don't work in the Bay Area under EA because you're going to get fired.

"Top Workplace" for 2013 by a new employee survey from the Bay Area News Group. "NEW" being the keyword. Wait till the honeymoon is over.

Congratulations! I am glad to know EA treats its employees well, and it should. Employees are not customers.

Number 1 in the hearts of employees as a place to work... Number 1 in the hearts of consumers as the most evil company in the country.

That's nice! It's nice because there a lot of creative talent that goes to waste sometimes and it's nice to know that the employees are inspired to put that talent into video games. Well done them!

These surveys are useless we took one where I work. Its just a series of questions of course people at work are going to answer how the company wants them.

@Imetysaw yes, but simply because majority of people are stupid and uninformed, they do not know about what other companies do or so...but most everybody plays games at some point and when you have to deal with DRM stuff and always online it hits you...whereas some BP oil disaster only hits the region where it struck...

Lhomity
Lhomity

@Geminon There's a difference.

One of them is an actual survey of people working in that area.

The other is an online poll that draws in votes from trolls, and foam-at-the-mouth retards who think having to play a game with some DRM is worse than the banking and finance industries, insurance, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, mercenary, private military and security, lobby groups, and so on....

@Unfallen_Satan They have the money to treat their employees well by screwing over their customers. Or maybe EA employees enjoy doing that, too?

Is your username supposed to be the opposite of Fallen Angel?

@abcdefgabcdefgz

Yep. You can say how much you love every single thing at your workplace or you can get laid off. That goes double at EA.

Imetysaw

@thorn3000 Exactly, which is why I pointed out that these things are just no way of judging any company, considering the caliber of people filling them out, hehe.

thorn3000
thorn3000

@Lhomity @Geminon yeah, since you know...voting the other companies bad requires A. soem thinking and B. actual research into each company...whereas screaming, I want a new online pass with a used game I got for cheap from a friend, is far quicker and easier on the brain...something a lot of stupid people will welcome

Unfallen_Satan

@streamline I never thought about my name that way. I guess it could be.

I never thought EA screws over their customers. Some of their policies have been unfriendly to consumers, a few very unfriendly. However, I expect that. I don't subject myself to any of their unfriendly policies, but I don't think ill of them unless they're dishonest.

@2bitSmOkEy @fiend_ no no, he doesn't support any big companies since they steal from people!...besides of course owning an Apple iphone, playing Activisions COD, owning a Microsoft Xbox 360, wearing Rayban glasses, having a few pairs of Adidas sneakers, buying Procter and Gamble brands, etc.
