Tuesday Electronic Arts announced the shipment of NCAA Football '98 for the PlayStation. After having been available on the 16-bit Sega Genesis for a few years, this is the first time the game has appeared on a 32-bit console.

The '98 version includes all 112 teams from then different Division I-A conferences. In total the game has 20 all-time historic games, with 40 of the greatest teams ever to play the game. Players can recreate games of old, with accurate position rankings and skill levels for each school to enhance the realism of the game.

EA has also secured exclusive rights to the Rose Bowl, Fed Ex Orange Bowl, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, and the Nokia Sugar Bowl to provide a real-life feel to the game. A total of 122 fully rendered and authentically reproduced stadiums (and extras used in post-season play), jersey numbers on each player, 30 licensed fight songs and weather degradation add to the complete college pigskin experience for fans. You can even save replays to show your friends via a memory cart.

The game should be in stores later this week.
