From N's E3 showing, that tease about Mother 3 was harsh... I still cannot comprehend why Nintendo is so adamant about releasing a western version, thankfully we have a GBA translation.

@n0xinab0x They made a joke about Star Fox as well and later announced it. keep in mind they're spending 90 minutes talking about an unannounced 3ds game tomorrow. there's hope.

@n0xinab0x Mother is an incredibly difficult series to localize. The man who makes (or rather made, I'm not even sure he's in the industry anymore) the games left plenty of western references in them.

Basically, there's a lot of copyrighted material in Mother 3 and Nintendo would have to go through the entire game and either straight up remove them (this includes various songs in the game as well as text) or modify it very heavily.

As easy as it would be for Nintendo to take the fan patch, throw it together with Mother 3 and throw it on the eShop, they legally cannot do that.

Why haven't they just gone and modified the copyrighted material? Probably because the amount of effort wouldn't pay off, seeing as Mother is an incredibly niche series.
