E3 2014: Next Year's E3 Takes Place June 16-18

Plus, Entertainment Software Association president suggests show may leave Los Angeles Convention Center.

by

As E3 2014 winds down, the Entertainment Software Association today announced the dates for next year's show. E3 2015 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center June 16-18.

The annual gaming gala has been held in Los Angeles for 16 of its 19 years of existence. Other host cities have included Santa Monica, California (2007) and Atlanta, Georgia (1997).

In 2012, the ESA signed a three-year extension to keep E3 in Los Angeles through 2015. It is unclear where the show will be held after next year. We followed up with the ESA for further clarification about the future of the show, but were told, "Nothing to confirm beyond 2015."

In an interview with CNBC, ESA president Michael Gallagher said E3 may leave the Los Angeles Convention Center in the future. "E3 is a world class show that deserves a world class venue. The Los Angeles Convention Center is no longer a top-tier property," he said.

Not surprised LA is going screw the pooch and not step up and update the Convention center. Anaheim's updating there's so maybe it'll just move south. I don't see it moving too far east as it's probably easier for the big 3 to stay on the West Coast so maybe Las Vegas?

Las Vegas has the space for the convention, enough hotel rooms, and top tier entertainment. Sounds like a good fit to me.

The could have it in San Diego, same Venue as comic con. I have a feeling LA might refurbish their convention center tho. Downtown LA has been undergoing a lot of upgrades in the last few years.

Fallout 4, Half-Life 3 and Last Guardian best all be shown by then, or then...

This will probably never happen but I wish it'd come to New York

LA is a great destination since the majority of the publishers are located on the West Coast. They tried this before at ATL. That was an excellent city mind you, but the travel was ridiculous and EXPENSIVE. Its a lot easier to transport stuff from Santa Monica to LA than San Francisco to Atlanta...

While I do believe that LACC is aging, it has a few more years left before they need a total rehaul. West Hall feels old and the walk from South to West Hall is long... almost too long.

I wouldn't mind San Diego or even Las Vegas for future venues. I doubt we will see East Coast cities for E3 any time soon.

Well, if the trade show is moving from LA I would love to see E3 in NYC

Damn, that feels so late.

Wow, E3, who's guessing what the next one will be like? Nobody? ffs most pointless headline EVER!

Judging from this E3, I can't say that I look forward to the next one. It's good that GTA V is finally coming to PC and all, but other than that, there was mostly talk about games I already knew about and even then not much was shown.

That's cool, next year I'll read my E3 news on IGN.com.  IGN had a lot more coverage and video on the games, and wasn't saturated with stories that try to frame the concept of not having female playable characters or a female hostage in a game as woman-hating evilness by the game industry.

If the folks at Gamespot were really outraged at the crazy amount of "sexism" this year at E3, then they should boycott next year's E3 out of principle, correct?

@b00me

Las Vegas is a trash heap these days. Houston would be a good choice.

@tomservo51 Last I heard they were going to tear down West Hall and build upwards on South Hall; that was when there was big talk about building a stadium over there so LA could have a football team.... I lost track of all that so I don't know if that is still a thing.

@itruecolors  New York sucks.  Overcrowded, over-priced, congested streets, tons of crime, and rude people.  That's why so many that work there spend over 2 hours a day commuting, just so they don't have to live there. Can we put E3 in hell instead?

@rob19ny My final exam is june 14, so if that was this year, I'd have had less of a hard time

@Hurvl  True, not a lot of surprises, since everyone decided to leak everything in the weeks leading up to E3.

Gamespot gave GTA V a less score because you can't play as a female character. LOL!

@spacecadet25 @Hurvl agree with both of you , this e3 missed the wow factor , the unexpected the game which made everyone delirious . The biggest cheers and shouts heard during a conference were for the grim fandango remaster

@gerd357 E3 was amazing and gives gamers a reason to own a PS4 or Xbox One this year or in 2015. The Show preview what Next Gen gaming is going to be like and guess what? it can't be done on PS3 or Xbox 360..
