E3 2011: LOTRO: Rise of Isengard add-on drops Sept. 27

Digital-only expansion for Turbine's free-to-play MMORPG coming this fall; level cap raised to 75, and new territories added; three prepurchase offers announced.

LOS ANGELES--Tolkien fans thirsting for new Middle-earth content can soak up added action in Lord of the Rings Online's Rise of Isengard expansion, due out this fall.

LOTRO: Online rises to Isengard this September.

Announced last fall, the Rise of Isengard digital-only expansion will be released on September 27. The expansion will contain three zones: Dunland, the Gap of Rohan, and the famed Isengard, complete with Orthanc, the iconic tower where the traitorous Saruman dwells. Journeying through these zones, players can level up to a new height of 75.

Gamers looking to slay a mighty beast will have a new monster to smite in Rise of Isengard. A new 24-player raid included in the expansion has players taking on the ancient Draigoch, "one of the most powerful creatures of Middle-earth."

In addition to dating the Rise of Isengard expansion, Turbine--which has seen its revenue triple since making LOTRO free to play--also announced three prepurchase offers gamers can secure. Available for prepurchase now are the $30 Base, $40 Heroic, and $50 Legendary expansions. Each iteration contains the Rise of Isengard expansion, as well as a host of different in-game content. For a detailed breakdown of what each pack will offer, check out the Lord of the Rings: Rise of Isengard official website.

Good luck trying to pre-purchase this. WAY TO CONFUSING!!! Really should not be this hard to buy. (has something to do with another company or something) Guess they don't want my $50.00 at this time. Perhaps I will wait until you can buy in game with TP....... but then again, sounds like you will not get all the nice extras. BUMMER!

I'm addicted to this game. This is by far the most money I have spent for any one game ever...and its free, which makes it even more ridiculous. So I assume I will be purchasing this, as I can not help myself. I truly believe their revenue has tripled, and will continue to go up.

Agreed, something weird about the narrator. "AdvenCHA" etc, talks normally and then pronounces random syllables oddly.

I need to brush off my lotro account for this. I was skeptical about it because i thought they may drop expansions. But it looks as thought they are moving forward :)

The narrator in the video tries too hard.
