The biggest gaming event of the summer is over and done with, and though the dust is still settling, this was definitely a year of major announcements for Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, and just about everyone else. We understand that with so much to read and watch (more than 295 original news and previews stories and 425 videos posted!), it's hard to keep track of everything, so we're here to lend a helping hand. Check out all the highlights from the show, conveniently organized for you here!
Monday was a day of press conferences. Though the show didn't officially begin until the next day, Microsoft kicked things off with its media briefing, which was followed up by press conferences from Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. Though it was a day full of news, the unveiling of Microsoft's motion-sensing camera, code-named Project Natal, took the cake.
The news team assembled late in the day to recap their thoughts about the show with a special episode of The HotSpot, and our photographers snagged plenty of pictures. Take a look at photos of the pre-show preparations, the construction of our booth, the hallways and buildings of E3, and the Microsoft, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft press conferences.
The press conferences continued as Nintendo and Sony held theirs press conferences back-to-back, even as the show floor doors opened up for the teeming masses. New hardware was shown off at both events, and games were revealed for the first time, such as Metroid: Other M and The Last Guardian. Tuesday was also the first day of our live stage show, which featured such games as God of War III and The Beatles: Rock Band.
The second day of E3 started out with our stage show, where we had live demos of such games as Assassin's Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2. And if you thought the press conferences were over, you were wrong, as both Square-Enix and Konami held their press conferences, as well as detailed such games as Final Fantasy XIV, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
Just because this was the final day of E3, that didn't mean it wasn't just as busy as the other two! We closed out the event with our stage show, where we broadcast live demos of such games as New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Dragon Age: Origins.
Our photo feature finished in a big way with Gigapan panoramic photos of the West Hall, and we also got shots of the Microsoft, Ubisoft, Konami, MTV, Sega, and Warner Bros. booths. We even got photos of our own booth!
