We recently had the chance to check out the Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Game Boy Advance versions of Minority Report, the game based on the upcoming film of the same name. In the game, you take on the role of John Anderton, a pre-crime officer who is arrested for crime he has yet to commit. Anderton will have to avoid other pre-crime officers in an attempt to prove his innocence and expose a larger conspiracy.
The Game Boy Advance version is a straightforward side-scrolling affair where you will be able to walk through different environments while shooting at various enemies. You can use all the weapons that will be featured in the movie, such as the concussion gun (a shotgun that shoots a sonic wave) and gel guns. The shoulder buttons on the Game Boy Advance are used to target specific enemies onscreen, and they're also used to hide behind objects in the environment in case there's no other way to avoid enemy fire. While all this is going on, bystanders will walk through the environment and will run away whenever a firefight breaks out. In addition, the environments have been designed to look like the movie, so you'll see objects such as holo ads. The Game Boy Advance version of the game will also include jetpack levels where you must fly in between cars in order to evade pursuers.
The console version of Minority Report isn't quite the same as the Game Boy Advance version, as there is a larger focus placed on the adventure elements. You'll have to run around the city to find items and people that will help Anderton uncover the conspiracy. There will also be a large number of puzzles to solve. When enemies appear on the screen, you can either use weapons or engage in hand-to-hand combat. One of the interesting aspects of the console versions of Minority Report is the physics model, which makes combat look a little more realistic. In addition, you can interact with the environment during a fight by throwing enemies into holo ads or other objects. Activision is still currently negotiating to get Tom Cruise's likeness into the game.
