During today's press conference, Microsoft confirmed that it will be releasing Counter-Strike to support its upcoming online gaming platform, Xbox Live. Counter-Strike is the popular Half-Life mod that pits teams of terrorists and counterterrorists against each other under varying mission conditions and across a variety of often-user-created maps. Sierra released a retail version of the Counter-Strike mod in November 2000, and the game still remains the most-played online shooter today.

We'll have more on Counter-Strike and Xbox Live as details become available.
