E3 2001 Preshow Report: Konami announces Police 911

Konami announces a second shooting game.

Comments

Konami has announced a second shooting game for the Sony PlayStation 2, titled Police 911. The company will also release Silent Scope 2 for Sony's next-generation console. As the title suggests, Police 911 lets players assume the role of a police officer, who must crack down on the criminal activity by searching and apprehending the enemies who are hiding throughout the city. The first level involves a mission in the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles, where the target is an organized crime family suspected of weapons smuggling.

One of the primary attractions in the arcade version of Police 911 is the motion-sensor technology that follows the actual movements of the human player. In this way, players can physically move around the cabinet, duck, and look around corners, to avoid enemy fire. Konami currently has no plans to use a similar technology for the home version of the game. Police 911 will be released this fall for the PS2.
