Bizarre Creations, the studio behind the Project Gotham Racing and Geometry Wars series, has announced that its next game will launch on next-gen systems in 2007 and will be published by Sega. Provisionally titled The Club, Bizarre's next project is set to be a third-person action shooter that will "be a genuine showcase for the capabilities of the next-gen platforms."

Specific platforms for The Club have not been announced, and Sega declined to comment when asked. [UPDATE] Though the initial announcement was tight-lipped about which systems the game would be released on, a subsequent Sega E3 lineup lists the game as a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title.

And what exactly is The Club? Sega describes it as a loosely organised and highly illegal underground entity, or those seeking the ultimate in vicarious thrills and those who want to watch them. You will be wielding high-powered weaponry and must kill according to their rules--quickly, relentlessly and with style.

"The Club simply delivers that visceral thrill of high-stakes gambling and tosses in a heavy dose of frenzied gunplay," said Sega of America VP of marketing Scott A. Steinberg.

The game will be demonstrated behind closed doors at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, and there will be a video preview at Sega's booth. For all the latest news on the show, check out our special E3 site.
