Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 heads stateside this summer

Namco Bandai-published mech beat-'em-up given midyear North American release window on 360, PS3.

by

Namco Bandai has gone on a game-announcement bender this week, confirming the impending releases of Dark Souls, Armored Core V, and Tales of Graces F, as well as indicating that new Power Rangers games are en route. Now, one more title can be added to that list, as the publisher today said that it would release Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the US this summer.

Mechanical bulls are all the fashion rage in the far future.

Like previous installments in the series, Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 is a sci-fi take on Tecmo Koei's long-running Dynasty Warriors beat-'em-up franchise. Gundam fans will find more than 50 characters and 70 mobile suits that can be played and customized, all gleaned from the series' 30-year anime and manga history. These playable options include additions from the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Mobile Suit Gundam UC series.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 will also boast a handful of tweaks over previous installments in the series. Namely, the game includes three new feature systems--Partner Strike, Emergency Dash, and Recovery Gauge Systems--which the publisher claims will amp up its focus on tactics. The game also includes a four-player cooperative campaign.

Released as Gundam Musou 3 in Japan last December, the game has already proven successful for Namco Bandai. As part of its nine-month earnings report this week, the publisher said the game has sold more than 430,000 units through December.

OHH MAN!!! I'm so stoke for this game! They're finally putting in all the gundam series together! This I can't wait for!!

They need to make a Dynasty Warriors adventuring game, that'd be neat. Travel between the battles and cities of feudal china, level up your hero you choose. A combination of RoTK and DW, but open world inbetween.

I hope they reboot the DW series. After DW5 the series has lost all of my interest. It's been the same game for years. Throw in some depth to the story (focus on the history behind the setting) and they'd have a great game.

@MJ12-Conspiracy I remember when i first played DW on the Playstation 2! I loved it! but after that it got very repetitive! They need to produce something more original to the games and make us gamers want/need this one!

WOW that looks amazing! Day one for me! I just hope they keep all the options they had on Xbox360, for the new one. I like the updated graphics vary much, looks vary detailed and the new engine is perfect! All the grit it needed the first 2 times.

If you're looking for good reviews for a game in the Warriors (Musou) series, then you're wasting your time. The critics will take one look at the title, and do the same thing that the majority of the gaming community does: "Ugh, ANOTHER Dynasty Warriors game." You can tell from the reviews that they never intended to give the game a fair chance, and were determined to dislike it from the start. The only game to buck this trend in the series seems to be Strikeforce, but that's because you had to approach the game differently than most others in the series with regards to the gameplay. As for me, I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the second one with Haman and Roux, so I'm looking forward to how they handled the new characters' stories.

Whenever a game developer promises that new features will "add to the focus on tactics" or give more room for tactical/clever combat, it usually means "new ways of mashing buttons".

I want to play all of these but even the first one is still upwards of $40 new, and very hard to find used. I might have to pick this one up first

*crosses fingers* Please don`t be another boring mindless empty hack and slash with too many enemys on screen! I have been dissapointed with every game in the warriors series(that i`ve played) so far I hope this one doesn`t suck! if this gets good reviews i MIGHT try it but i rarely try any warriors games so that might never happen.

Why do we have 3 of these now and Mobile Ops the one year war is never going to come to North America? Well if they are selling then I guess this series has some fans. Personally I still prefer mech games with more strategy needed to play them but that is just my preference.

man i loves me a good mindless beat em up from time to time! i still have to beat the second on with all the characters, but it's so damn long. lol .

Though warriors games are just repetitive hack and slash strangely I love them.

YES! Finally a mecha game worth buying! Hope they ban english voice acting though

I do love this series. It's the only game I've played that actually makes you feel like a Gundam pilot in that you can effortlessly mow through huge numbers of enemies. But it is highly repetitive in both gameplay and it's sequels. May have to get it if only for the new Mobile Suits.

I'd like to see a Code Geass game or incorporate some Nightmares into this game.

The Warriors games are fun. Sure most of them are the same tired thing ver and over, but whatever. And you gotta admit, the cel shading is nice.

It might be senseless slash and bash but hey it's one of those few titles that I like. As a Gundam fanatic I am most likely going to buy it.

you know, i kinda like the idea of a mindless hack n slash with mechs that have some slight customization. but the trailer with constant lame trope of preteens saying stating there manifesto in japanese has me really turned off...

I have yet to jusmp into this gundam series, as i cant stand dynasty warriors, but I will most likely rent it first to see if i like it then buy it if i do.

I used to love Dynasty Warriors, and stopped playing after 4 because it was literally the same exact game as the previous just with slight changes to the armor or character models. Maybe two or three more extra characters and one new map. Gundam is even worse, not surprised to see this, but I know I won't be picking it up.
