Dungeons & Dragons Online expansion hits June 25

Menace of the Underdark add-on drops for PC this summer, raises level cap, adds new zones; $30, $50, and $80 preorder options available.

The first expansion for Dungeons & Dragons Online--Menace of the Underdark--will arrive on June 25, developer Turbine announced today.

Queen Lolth menaces PCs on June 25.

Players can begin preordering the expansion today through the massively multiplayer online role-playing game's website. Gamers can select a $30 base edition, a $50 standard edition, or an $80 collector's edition.

The Menace of the Underdark expansion for the MMORPG raises the game's level cap to 25, adds new zones to journey through, and brings the all-new shape-shifting druid class to the free-to-play title.

As for the new areas players can explore, Menace of the Underdark adds the Forgotten Realms, with players being dropped into the village of Eveningstar to begin their journeys. From there, gamers will encounter Lolth, the spider queen of the Underdark Drow. Additionally, players will be able to explore the Drow capital Shindylryn in the new expansion.

Dungeons & dragons online doesnt have a persistent world. Players interact freely in towns but all other areas are instanced, just like Guild Wars 1. Do u really want to spend money on that? Well if u love rpg games more than mmorpg then u should.

Funny to me is that graphically this game is way better then Swtor and its 6 years older. I think because it uses the same engine as Lotro and that game has amazing graphics.

@gix47 Free to try is more like it. The way they make money is charging for adventure packs, character classes and a few other perks. That along with all sorts of consumables like healing potions. Fortununately, there isnt anything in DDO that you can buy that will make you better than other players which is a problem apparently in other "Free" mmos. If you like DDO and I do, the $80 super pack would make a lot of sense if you didn't want to pay a subscription fee but wanted most of the adventure packs. I have played and enjoyed WOW, didnt really enjoy Age of Conan nor Warhammer online but DDO is the only one that I have kept playing.

They can essentially just keep borrowing from old "Gold-Box" F.R. series material (let alone the original modules), and keep this going as long as there are subs. Heh... so weird to think that we used to camp/rest to re-learn spells.

Do you start at 1st level in the new Realms areas? Or do you port your existing character between dimensions?
