Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project rated for Xbox 360
ESRB gives North American release of 3D Realms side-scrolling action game spin-off an M rating for blood, gore, violence.
In March, the Korean Game Rating Board revealed an Xbox Live Arcade rerelease was in the works for the 2002 PC game Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project. Today, gamers received another sign of the game's imminent arrival on Microsoft's console, as the Entertainment Software Rating Board added an Xbox 360 version of Manhattan Project to its ratings database.
Originally developed by Sunstorm Interactive and published by Arush, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project received a positive critical reception upon its release. The game featured eight episodes, through which Duke goes about rescuing exotic dancers while grappling with mutated wildlife.
As is common with no-frills rereleases of older games, the ESRB did not provide a detailed ratings description for Manhattan Project. However, it did list 3D Realms as the game's publisher and issued it an M for Mature rating with content descriptors for "blood and gore" and "violence."
The evidence for an Xbox Live Arcade rerelease of Manhattan Project goes beyond the ratings board tip-offs. Last November, GamerBytes got wind of a Microsoft programmer's LinkedIn profile indicating the 3D side-scrolling shooter was headed for the Xbox 360's online platform. However, that mention has since been removed.
