Duke Nukem Forever rated Down Under

Late last year GameSpot AU ran an article looking at four games that could possibly feel the wrath of the Australian Classification Board in 2011. As of today, that list now sits at three, with news coming in that Duke Nukem Forever has passed fit for sale. Not too surprisingly it earned the maximum MA 15+ rating for "strong violence, sexual references, crude humour and drug references."

Website Gamepron noticed an odd entry on the Classification Board's site for a title called 000A. A request from the board confirmed the rating and game title, revealing that it was indeed Duke Nukem Forever.

The report gives a brief synopsis for the game but makes no note of the content rated. GameSpot AU contacted the title's publisher, 2K Games Australia, seeking clarification on whether Australia players will receive an identical version to North America and Europe. 2K Games declined to comment.

[UPDATE] 2K Games has released a media statement confirming that Duke Nukem Forever has not been edited or modified in any ahead of its Australian release. Aussies gamers will receive the same version of the game as the rest of the world. Duke Nukem goes on sale Down Under on May 6 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
