Duke Nukem Forever hitting Mac this August

Sci-fi action shooter heading to Apple computers later this summer via Windows-to-Mac port shop Aspyr Media.

by

Despite Duke Nukem Forever's very long development cycle, the game's debut earlier this month for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC was met with a cold critical reception. However, this isn't stopping publisher 2K Games from bringing the game to a new platform--Macintosh computers--in August.

The King is extending his reign to the Mac this August.

Aspyr Media today announced that it has entered into a publishing partnership with 2K Games to port and publish Duke Nukem Forever for the Mac this August. Aspyr Media has ported several high-profile games from Windows to Mac, including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Civilization V.

When Duke Nukem Forever launches this August for the Mac, it will be available via Steam and will support Steam Play and other Steamworks features. The game is currently available to preorder via Aspyr Media's online store, where the game's system requirements can also be found.

@Spurgness originally only on PC where'd you hear that crap this game had a N64 version planned back in 1997 and a original Xbox version planned back in 2001. And the PC version is a total mess if you don't believe me just look at it.

@Dasim64 I mentioned Quake 4 retard learn 2 read. Duke Nukem is fundamentally the same as every other Raven, iD, Gearbox or third-party shooter of the last 10 years. People let their hype get out of hand. Nothing more, nothing less.

@Dezuria Yeah I do that too, I play blood, and doom what feels like every day, but that worked back then, it doesn't now, the standard for games has been changed dramatically since those days, back then that was above standard which is why they were, and still are fun, but now, more is expected rather than just plain shooting, personally, I love how Duke Nukem kept to the old school formula, however it would have been more widely appreciated if there were more variety to it.

yeah f**k the reviewers, after 12 years duke nukem forever is finally out, and if the developers want to make a Macintosh port, good.

is this why i was told that many people who had already bought the game don't even like it or not to happy with it. even when i was thinking about buying the d.n.f.e game just to play it and find out that the game is really poor and not that much fun to play any more. what is going on here. i was so excited about it and now people don't really like the game. WOW am i really confused.

While much anti-mac hate can get a little shameful, one needs to have either made a hasty or otherwise seriously ill-advised decision to own one for the purpose of gaming, be it even a secondary concern. Also, even if the above weren't true, and even if DNF were game of the year, I doubt the Mac audience would provide too many sales, being the sort of game it is.

Okay honestly enough of the screaming about how bad the game is alot of us who enjoy it have heard it already. its porting to the mac okay so it is. If some like it fine if some don't fine. you guys can stop screaming and get off your soap boxes now

Duke Nukem Forever, coming to a bargain bin near you! My friend showed me parts of it and it was disappointing but still funny at parts though there are worse games *cough* Superman 64 * cough cough* but considering that it took 12 years to release and how amazing Duke Nukem 3D is. It is pretty bad if you look at it in those terms. How does one of the best fps games of the 90s turn into what it is now?

@Marky360 If you're running it worse on a PC than a console you're doing it wrong. DNF was originaly a PC only game anyways. So why the hell would you play it on a console.

Lol i suprising liked this game...... Its not a Call of Duty multiplayer but i thought it was still enjoyable..... I have never played through the old Duke Nukems so i didnt have my hopes high for this and that is probably why i enjoyed it a little more than a huge Duke Nukem fan would wanting the next big game.. =P
