DuckTales HD launching in August

Remastered version of NES game launching August 13 for PSN, Steam, and Wii U; coming to Xbox Live September 11; retail version announced for PS3.

by

DuckTales: Remastered--the high-definition update of the classic NES game--will be available beginning in August, Capcom announced today.

The $15 game will release August 13 for PlayStation Network, Steam, and Wii U, while the Xbox Live version will debut on September 11. No reason was provided as to why the Xbox 360 version is coming about a month after the other iterations.

In addition, Capcom announced today that a special boxed edition of DuckTales: Remastered will be available at United States retailers for PlayStation 3 on August 20.

This $20 bundle--not announced for Xbox 360--will include a download code to play the game and an "exclusive DuckTales Disney collector's pin."

Capcom also today released the first video in a new "duckumentary" series detailing developer WayForward's process of creating an "authentic Disney look and feel" for the new game.

DuckTales: Remastered was announced during PAX East 2013 in March. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Why a month later for xbox? Capcom must have some sort of deal with some one for this to happen. I have both consoles, but I rather buy it for 360

Not sure if i like this, remake of classic title, for its time or still is, is a bad concept

WayFoward is one of my favorites!!  Hopefully this is a great game and worth the wait!  I was hoping the box set would include the original along with the HD one.

it still baffles me as to why they chose ducktales of all games to redo in hd. not to say that it was an awful game but theres so many better games that they couldve chosen.

drokmore

Wi U business plan, redo all old games in HD...and make little new interesting games as xbone/ps4 are too powerful to compete.

@stan_boyd

Battletoads, and then Battle-toads & Double Dragon.

Those are the only 2 beat-em ups ever worth mentioning.

@lilj2626 I'll aid you on the Capcom game information.

The online stores have something called Capcom Arcade Cabinet. Which lets you purchase many games made around two decades ago, such as Ghosts and Goblins & 1942.

However if you have a XBOX/ PS2/ PSP you can buy something called Capcoms Classic Collection & on PSP can be downloaded. This package holds way more games on it & is a much better deal :)

@lilj2626 What a mess. You don't expect people to read your comments if you write like that do you?

@abnergoinbig I would have, but it sounds like there is no physical disk it's just a box with a download code :(

@Strider8009 lol before making a dlc comment check the game ur commenting on before...this aint cod or any other game

Juon408
Juon408

@Strider8009 ...........There was NO DLC on the NES and this is a remake of an NES game. If they do make DLC, they'd have to make it from scratch.

@VenkmanPHD "Only two beat-em-ups ever worth mentioning."

That's quite transparent of you. Sounds like you have a limited view on the beat-em-up genre.

My personal favourite is likely Streets of Rage III.

Seeing as you like DD so much. Checkout Double Dragon Neon if you haven't already.

I'm more into Muramasa Rebirth & later this year Dragon's Crown myself :)

@adunoakenshield @lilj2626 I read the first line of the first post.

I can't believe that people who write like this are allowed to breathe and breed.

Jesus Fucking Christ...

@edpeterson @abnergoinbig For more that I love retail(disks and cartridge), buying a retail version of a incredible small game is ridiculous, its too overpriced.

@hahamanin Spelunker was originally a Nes game and had dlc.

But one can hope this doesn't happen here :)

@Muteki_X @sladakrobot

The size of the game doesn't warrent a dvd capacity disk. They could have put the game on a USB flash drive though.

@vetalfox have you played Cadillac and dinosaur that was my arcade favorite. there should be a new co op game like that with a l little 3d element in it

@RSM-HQ @VenkmanPHD Yep, Neon is good. I wish Sega finally starts to make HD remakes intead of just releasing the very same upscaled games - they have Streets of Rage 2/3, Golden Axe 2/3, Comix Zone and freakin Sonic 3 & Knuckles which is much better than any of todays Sonic games. TNMT from SNES in HD would be cool too.

And i can't wait for Duck Tales and Dragon's Crown.

Sohereiam
Sohereiam

@HowlPendragon @Sohereiam I'm not talking about this game only, this is a remake its a different situation, however there are several games made today an age were they could use the full potential of retail media storage to the max, instead they create a small game, to sell in retail and digital format, and break the game in pieces they sell the largest as the game and the smaller ones as DLC .

Yishaijah
Yishaijah

@HowlPendragon@Sohereiam

It's also a waste of a dvd and paper. Want a disc? Get a half half decent PC, download the Steam version, burn the game files of this tiny game to a DVD+R along with a crap load of other stuff. :)

jinzo9988
jinzo9988

@mike468 @Muteki_X @sladakrobot That's a crappy suggestion seeing as how USB flash drives exceed even Blu-ray discs.  The biggest flash drives exceed even BDXLs several times over.  =p

I think a DVD is cheaper to manufacture anyway... if not the materials then definitely in the lack of labor costs.  If you can efficiently construct USB flash drives and write data onto them for cheaper than DVDs(including the man-power involved, if any) then it might be feasible but I don't think it's possible.
