Dreamcast makes a statement

The PC Data sales charts are in, and Sega's Dreamcast is beginning to move some software.

PC Data has released its list of the top-selling video games for the week ending February 3. Hot on the heels of Sega's big announcement that it will no longer manufacture Dreamcast hardware, Dreamcast software has surged to the top of the sales charts. Dreamcast games took two of the top three spots with the first massively multiplayer online RPG, Phantasy Star Online, taking top honors. A PlayStation 2 game, besides Madden NFL 2001, has also broken into the top five as Oni comes in at number three. The sales dominance of Pokémon Gold and Silver has finally come to a halt as both versions have dropped to the bottom half of the top ten. PC Data estimates that an astounding 6.3 million units of Pokémon Gold and Silver have been sold in the US since their release on October 15, 2000.
