Dragon's Lair 3D goes gold

Encore Software has today announced that the GameCube version of Dragon's Lair 3D has gone gold, and so, despite earlier reports that the game had been delayed until early 2003, it should be available in stores before the end of the year.

In the game, which is essentially a completely new remake of the 80's classic Dragon's Lair, players assume the role of a courageous knight named Dirk the Daring who is on a mission to rescue the beautiful Princess Daphne from the clutches of an evil dragon. While staying true to the design of the original game, Dragon's Lair 3D is approximately seven times as long, includes new plot twists, and affords players much more control over Dirk. In all, players will have to explore 43 massive areas consisting of around 250 rooms as they progress through the game in order to reach the all-new end sequence directed by Don Bluth.

The PC and PC versions of Dragon's Lair 3D are already available in stores, but although the GameCube version of the game is now scheduled for release before the end of the year, PC owners will still have to wait until March 2003 to get their hands on a copy.
