Capcom's role-playing game franchise, Dragon's Dogma, has reached a new sales milestone. The publisher has announced that the series, which debuted in 2012, has now sold 2.3 million units.

"The Dragon's Dogma franchise has become one of Capcom's successful series," the publisher said in a statement. "Cumulative sales were more than 2.3 million units at the end of June 2015." A new version of the first game, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, was released in 2013.

This new franchise sales number was embedded in a press release about Dragon's Dogma Online, a newly released free-to-play RPG that saw more than 1 million downloads in its first 10 days. The game is currently available in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC. A release in the west has not been confirmed.

Capcom said the early success of Dragon's Dogma Online means the game is well on its way to becoming "one of Capcom's new core titles in its online business."

In other news about the Dragon's Dogma series, Capcom this week confirmed that a PC edition of Dark Arisen is in development.
