Konami releases new information on its TV-show-inspired action game for the Nintendo DS.

Based on the animated TV series of the same name, Dragon Booster is described by Konami as a "fast-paced third-person racing/action/combat game." The show, in case you're not familiar with it, is set in a fantasy world where humans and dragons coexist. The hero of the show is Artha, a 16-year-old boy who, when the forces of evil threaten the humans' and dragons' peaceful way of life, is granted special powers by a legendary dragon named Beaucephalis. Artha, in his new role as a Dragon Booster hero, must use his new abilities to unite humans and dragons for good.

Set in the bustling Dragon City during the prelude to the war between dragons and humans that the forces of evil are conspiring to start, Dragon Booster will feature two distinct modes of play. The story-driven adventure mode will include a number of linked missions that tell the story of the Libris Alliance. The game's challenge mode, on the other hand, will give you the freedom to explore Dragon City as you capture, train, breed, and race up to 12 dragons. You'll be able to race your dragons against the various dragon-racing crews that have made Dragon City their home, and you'll also have the option to compete against other players using the DS's wireless functionality.

Further information on Dragon Booster is scarce right now, save for the fact that you'll be able to improve your dragons' performances using equipment that you win, buy, or build yourself. Dragon Booster for the Nintendo DS is currently scheduled for release this fall.
