GameSpot -- 7/10

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is among the best games to emerge from this beloved franchise. It looks stunning, has a solid gameplay base, and gives people who love the series a way to feel like they're a part of this big, beautiful universe. Though it has its share of problems, I was really surprised at how much fun I had with it. I might not be the die-hard Dragon Ball fan that many others are, but I can tell through the exquisite attention to detail and the wealth of content that the folks behind Xenoverse cherished the series every bit as much as the fans they're selling it to." -- Heidi Kemps [full review]

CGMagazine -- 9/10

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is everything I’ve ever wanted out of this franchise. It's the same series I know and love with new stuff added on to it. It retains everything I love about Dragon Ball games, and expels everything I hate. It's a content-packed game that doesn't feel monotonous or like a total slog. In conclusion, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a damn good video game." -- Elias Blondeau [full review]

Attack of the Fanboy -- 4/5

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 had a lot to live up to for fans of the franchise after the success of its predecessor, which Dimps has mostly managed to do. Even though the overall structure of the game is not a radical change from the first, the mix of movie villains really has helped to provide a fresh take on the classic story to go along with a number of other little improvements. While the game may not be for everyone, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 offers yet another satisfying experience for Dragon Ball fans that is not one to be missed." -- Dean James [full review]

IGN -- 7.5/10

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's ambition is admirable, and though it's riddled with a lot of silly little inconveniences, it mostly succeeds in giving DBZ fans an authentic-feeling world to dive into for the long haul. Though no individual element of its roleplaying or brawling gameplay is overly complex, taken as a whole there's a surprising amount to consider while progressing your character, and enough to do to keep it from getting stale too soon." -- Vince Ingenito [full review]

Game Informer -- 7/10

"The addition of Conton City alone makes Xenoverse 2 an improved sequel. Running (and later flying) around its large space with other Dragon Ball Z fans is fun, and walking up to familiar characters to learn their iconic super moves makes seeking out everyone worthwhile. It all eventually points to the combat, though, and I struggle to get excited about entering each new battle. It becomes a hurdle to what has the potential to be a highly replayable experience with lots of interesting unlockables." -- Kyle Hilliard [full review]

Xbox Achievements -- 7/10

"Still suffering a little from somewhat repetitious combat and an unshakeable sense of deja-vu, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is nonetheless an enjoyable and engaging fighter with a nice smattering of RPG depth. The niggles with the first game have been mostly addressed and eradicated, with the erratic camera a thing of the past, while the content on offer is slightly more varied, beyond Time Patrols and Parallel Quests. Add it all up, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 makes for an infinitely more enjoyable, less laborious and dare we say it, fun, experience. Kamehameha!" -- Richard Walker [full review]

Hardcore Gamer -- 3/5

"At the end of the day, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is, at best, a minimal improvement over its predecessor while sharing a lot of the same issues, but there's just something so endearing about how it all came together." -- Adam Beck [full review]
