Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening PC patched

BioWare squashes bugs, implements fixes to original game and expansion with patch 1.04; corrective measures hit PC today, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates now in certification.

BioWare's recently announced Dragon Age II is expected to arrive in March of 2011, but the studio still has its eyes fixed on the original. Fans of the high fantasy role-playing game series can enjoy a patched version of the original and its expansion beginning today.
Sadly, the patch won't fix this face.

The Electronic Arts-owned BioWare development studio updated its blog recently with information regarding what looks to be an enormous patch coming to the world of Dragon Age: Origins and its significant expansion, Awakening.

Officially dubbed Patch 1.04, the update fixes numerous issues plaguing the gameworld, including general fixes, as well as fixes specific to Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening separately.

The patch hit the PC version of Origins and Awakening today and is currently awaiting certification from Microsoft and Sony for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, respectively. BioWare did not provide a specific date for the when the patch will hit both systems.

For the full list of fixes and to download the patch, check out the BioWare patch 1.04 page. For more on the series, check out GameSpot's review of the original and its Awakening expansion.

Do you need Origins to play Awakening?

1.3 was a terrible 'patch'. Hopefully I can use Mana Clash and keep playing like I could before it.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this actually fixes some of the bugged quests but I'll wait to see the feedback before I even load the game.

Dragon Age = The best RPG since that other masterpiece Baldur's Gate.

Nice to see continued support but the only problem I ever had was some rare desktop crashes. Still, excellent work, BioWare!

@atopp399, this is actually the fourth patch. I'm not sure what bugs you were seeing, though. Other than getting the updater to work right on the PC, the original game's bugs were pretty subtle - like dex bonuses not working right with daggers and bows.

Got DA last week and I'm about 30 hours in (yes, I've played way too much...). Damn what a good game. So glad I waited to get it until I got a new gaming rig instead of getting it for the 360 at launch, 'cause the PC version is far superior!

I had too many problems with bugs with this game, I could turn the situation around and finish it, maybe if this had come out earlier it could have made things easier. I want to finish it again but I'll wait a while.

I bought this game on release for the 360, finished it and never encountered one glitch? What gives?

Wow, they finally fixed the 64bit support? Good one Bioware, better late than never right? The main game was solid as stone, but the 64bit support on the expansion was ghastly.

Nice to see continued support from Bioware for a very great game. I never had many problems with bugs when I was playing Dragon Age the first time through aside from the occasional crash, but nice to know that when I go through it again as soon as the wife is finally finished with the game I'll have an even greater experience than my first pass was.

I bought the game when it released and then shelved it shortly after due to all the bugs. They are only getting around to fixing them now? I suppose I may check it out then.
