Dragon Age II coming Feb. 1, 2011?

Retail box of Awakening expansion contains flyer with two-winged dragon and a date corresponding to previously announced release window of entry in series.

by

Source: Game-news site 1up.

What we heard: With Dragon Age: Awakening shipping next week, game publications are starting to receive retail review copies from Electronic Arts. It looks like the mailman stopped at 1up first, as the site is now displaying pictures of a flyer contained in the box that apparently reveals the release date for Dragon Age II.

Old trolls never die, they just fade away…until the inevitable sequel.

As can been seen in the photo, the flyer shows the series' iconic blood-red dragon. However, instead of being shown from the side with one wing, it is shown head-on, so two wings are visible. In the upper-right hand corner, the date "02.01.2011" is displayed. In North America, that translates to February 1, 2011.

The date falls in the first quarter of next year, when EA announced it would be releasing "Dragon Age Title TBA." The game was listed for the PC, consoles, and unspecified portable platforms. However, sources close to EA have downplayed the handheld version to GameSpot, saying it is likely an iPhone spin-off.

The official story: BioWare and EA reps had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus. Valentine's Day will apparently come two weeks early for role-playing game fans next year.

Guys, according to Bioware, the game will be set 10 years after the first game with a new character. Probably some of the character from the first game won't show up.

Cant wait to see what became of Morrigan! Only just finished the game (late i know, blame Mass Effect!). And OMG that was awsome. Bioware make the best games, i hope this story quality goes into SWTOR

Feels rushed and that usually comes with a drop in quality. Would hate to see that, love this game too much. Story, dialogue, characters, all were very well polished, how will DA2 fare with less than a year and a half of dev, not to mention there were lots of dlc in between. Just hoping they go for quality and not money, if it's 50 hours play of Awakening quality... man I could cry (figuratively speaking).

I hope they make it for the PC and I seriously hope that they'll make available the importing of the character used in Origins and Awakening, just as they did for Mass Effect 2, because it would be nice to continue the story of the same character.

Ok, so I just saw this. I played both Origins and finished awakening and am looking forward to the Darkspawn Chronicles.. but I doubt it will be as fun as the previous DLC's. My thoughts on Dragon Age: 1. Make it for PC!! The best experience for DA is on the PC. 2. DO NOT RUSH IT. DO NOT F**K IT UP FOR ME OK!! I want the same thrill and excitement as in the first. I will, as many other too, not accept a lesser game just so that EA can suck the money from the overexcited fans. Please Bioware, you have never failed me in terms of RPG so do not make this an half-assed attempt just to please those EA money-hungry basterds. 3. Make the game more exciting. Really.. by the time you finish the campaign 2x you already know all you need to about the game, even with the DLCs. I mean it's worth it just to see the origins story and how it plays out, but overall, when talking about time consumption over satisfaction, when you get to finish 2 Dragon Age Origins campaigns you already know everything you need to know. So find a way to randomize stuff! 4. I love your work Bioware, keep it up:). Regards, your loyal fan

I hope they make it like a true sequel....bringing over consequences for every decision I made in DA:O instead of the half hearted attempts made in awakening.

wesome!! this should be good... after finishing Origins and Awakening, I feel myself at a loss of good RPG's to play... Guess I'll have to keep myself busy till then with more... mundane RPG's... :)

@freakyredhead91 Possible, maybe something like ME2. Though I hope not.. One of the things I loved about DA:O was that it was long! The development time quite fast though, 1 year.. There is the possibility they've been working on it since DA:O

They'll probably release half the game in February and then the rest over the next year in dlc.

What I'm interested in is if we can port our old PC over or if we're starting over with a new PC. Also, are we going to be in a new location? I remember sometime ago when DA:O had just come out, I went to their forums and saw a thread asking "Where do you want DA2 to be in?" I'm not sure if that was started by a dev or by a member since it has been awhile. But I remember someone posting that they wanted it to be in Orlais, I for one would want it to be there. It would be interesting to see Orlais. But an expanded Ferelden would be nice too. Because, I really loved what they did in Awakening. It was short, but its an expansion, though it was in smaller areas of Ferelden. I could in some way imagine where exactly Highever was (always made me think where exactly that would be). Plus i really felt as if I were in the world of Ferelden even more. I won't go into it some more since I pretty much am kinda spoiling it a bit, I think. But all in all both games are great and will forever be my favorites.

as i thing maybe the next DA2 about the dark ritual (Morragian's) MAYBE if you choose it in the origin, a quest in Antiva while Zevran now the leader of the Crows (if you didn't choose to kill him, a battle with Qunari (IT'S ALL DEPENDS ON THE CHOICES BIOWARE MADE IN ORIGIN AND NEVER SHOWEN IN AWAKENING)

zevran chooses to kill you anyway before you head to the landsmeet forces you to kill him lol he wont be alive in any of my future DA games

I wont buy dragon age 2 , the first dragon age was a good game but really dissapointing in game time i finished the complete game in about 40 hours which is pretty normal normally for a rpg but not for a games more 2 dlc and 1 expansion which costed like 130$ in all.

Clearly nobody here has actually looked at the flier. The other side is an advert for a Dragon Age Comic Book Series. Wouldn't that just indicate that the whole flier is pertaining to a release date for the comics?

Huh. Seems a little quick... I hope they don't rush the game out. I'd rather have it take another 5 years for them to perfect it than get a pretty good release in a year...

I rather have crappy graphics then a crappy story.

Arcius_Azrael

Why do people keep complaining about graphics? Kids these days don't know how to appreciate a game. Pretty graphic won't make a good game. What really matters is gameplay and story. And btw, I think Dragon Age is gorgeous.

2011 is to soon for a good RPG to become constructed. Only if it has been in development for a year or two already would I accept that date.

Hope they dont stray from the back story.(balder's gate, dark alliance) Oh and hope they add more, or better voices. Voices in dialoge, like the new old republic game would be awesome to:)

DAO was one of the best games of 2009. Faaar superior to Demon Soucks i will keep stressing. But after playing not only the Best game of 2010 but also one of the best games of all time in Mass Effect 2 i have to say that Bioware has impressed a lot and it has to atleast revamp and improvise on the graphical part of Dragon Age...........

@Exian : IF you known that, this rumor wouldnt exist. And gamespot would figure that out.

I'm excited about the idea of a new DA, but even though they announced they would continue the series, I didn't think they meant this quickly. I hope they intend to put in some new features to keep things fresh

Was gonna say loved the first one but I'm still playing it! :P But I'm still getting excited about getting into Dragon age 2 - Not to mention Awakening. But I NEED to play Mass Effect 2 as well - and then Fallout New Vegas!!! ARGH!!! Can't believe I'm saying this but too many great games out or on the horizon for me. Looks like I need a holiday from work to catch up!!! HAHA Enjoy people - I know I will :)
