Double Agent finds PC gold

Development on Sam Fisher's latest adventure complete; game's release date pushed back to November 9.

by

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent may already have infiltrated the Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube, but one place he hasn't yet hacked is the PC. That will change next month, because Ubisoft has announced that development on the PC version of the game has finished.

While that bit of news is good for keyboard-and-mouse gamers, there was one bit of information they didn't want to hear--the game has been slightly delayed. Originally scheduled for release this month, the game will now begin shipping on November 9, about a week and a half after it was due in stores.

Splinter Cell Double Agent is rated M for Mature and will retail for $49.99. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's review of the Xbox 360 edition.

Does anyone know the difference between the Xbox version and the PC version? I want the game, just not sure which system to get it on. Is there online co-op with the PC version? What about multiplayer? If there's no online, then I might consider the Xbox version. Let me know, what you know Thanks

Hmmmm? No pre-order specials? Usually they have some sort of give-a-ways with pre-order. You'd think if they've made us wait this long, that is the least they could do was throw in a soundtrack, mouse-pad, hat, T-shirt or something....pffft.... :(

having it run only on SM 3.0 ready cards is going to hurt sales... hope they come out with a patch soon after release.

If it's finished development, why are they delaying it?

Good for you PC gamers. I'd prefer it on 360 but. Certain games are better on Console.

Ubisoft dropped StarForce a while ago. That was good news.

"the game will not begin shipping on November 9" Then this article gives us no information whatsoever. Did they just mean "will now be shipping"? Or are they still leaving us out in the dark?

Actually runstalker, Montreal did the XB1 and PS2 versions, whilst Shanghai did both the PC and 360 version, perhaps Ubisoft Montreal finished development on the 360 and PC version too, but it's definitely noticable that Montreal did not do the 360(And thus PC) version, but the XB1(and thus PS2), this coming from someone who owns both the 360 and XB1 SCDA :)

Wonder how the Wii version will play?

Guess who finished development on this version, to bring it up to next-gen standards? Ubisoft Montreal. That's a damn fine team. We're talking PoP series, Assassin's Creed, etc. Lots of really nice games. Most of the other versions of Double Agent were done completely at the Shanghai studio (that's actually where the PC version started). I'm waiting for this version. I enjoy the mouse for camera control in SC games. Oh, and timely -free- multiplayer map packs.

I miss the old price for games; thank god that the PC's games are still at least 50 dollars

Ahh. Been looking for this one. Good ole PC games. The last bastion of hope for $49.99 games. :)

If it took longer to go gold, and it's supposed to be like the 360 version... what could've been the reason for delay?

"OK.. the title doesn't make sense at all.." It's just another Pun. Gamespot does it all the time for stories about games "Going Gold", in other words, being completed.
