See Doom Sculpture Carved Using Chainsaw

Using the chainsaw for less-than-nefarious purposes.

The demonic Revenant from the newly-launched shooter Doom has been brought to life in the form of a detailed 8ft tall sculpture. Bethesda teamed up with Australian chainsaw carver Rob Bast, who painstakingly recreated the demon from recycled sustainable cypress wood using his own chainsaws. The piece took over 150 hours to make, which you can watch in the video below. It is perhaps the most Australian thing ever.

The sculpture is now being exhibited at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), which is located in Federation Square, Melbourne. Entry to see it is free, and it will be on display in the Lightwell section until May 24, after which it will be featured in the Screenworlds gallery for an extended period.

Doom launched on May 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game requires at least 50 GB of free space on console, while the PC users need at least 45 GB of space. Those playing on PC will want to check out the game's minimum requirements.

Still on the fence about whether to pick up the game? Watch the first 40 minutes of gameplay on PC to get an idea. Fans of the older games in the series will be happy to know that every mission in the game contains a classic map from Doom 1 and Doom 2. Veterans of the series can test their mettle in the highest difficult setting, Ultra-Nightmare, which not even the developers have been able to beat.
