Doodle Jump leaping to 3DS

Lima Sky's popular mobile game heading to 3DS and DS later this year.

by

Lima Sky's popular mobile game Doodle Jump is leaping to the Nintendo DS platform for the first time later this year. Doodle Jump Adventures is coming to the 3DS, while Doodle Jump Journey will be released on the DS.

"Doodle Jump is a natural fit on Nintendo's handhelds," Lima Sky cofounder Igor Pusenjak said in a statement..

Doodle Jump Adventures features a new Adventure mode that includes 48 levels with challenges, power-ups, and boss battles. The game also features an Endless Mode.

Meanwhile, Doodle Jump Journey for DS features the original game's three themes (Classic, Jungle, and Space) in Endless Mode.

Both versions were developed by Smoking Gun Interactive, which created Kinect Fun Labs titles Mars Rover Landing and Googly Eyes, as well as the Kinect version of Doodle Jump.

Doodle Jump remains one of the most popular games on iOS and Android.

This really doesn't surprise me after the Angry Birds trilogy was on the DS and sold a buttload but I am amazed people will pay more for a cartridge version of an Iphone game.

Then again I do wish Sega would bring Sonic Dash to the 3DS.

This can't possibly be a retail game. E-Shop game would be cool.

why is this game so popular? Is it just the casual's who eat it up?

if you do a top down perspective and 3d movement with the gyro controls and not charge more than $5 and put it in eshop, i'd say its worth it.

This should have been on the eshop, like angry birds

The multiplayer is the best part in this game. A person cannot deny that it's fun for what it is, although I heard it was severely ripped off from another indie. It's worth the price on mobile but I imagine it's going to be more on 3ds.

Got bored in less than a week. If they're putting more content and redesigning the whole gameplay, I'd say it's a great deal, otherwise, don't waste your money.

So they charge 30+ dollars for a game that I could get for 1 dollar right now on multiple app stores. Rip off much?

This game was actually free for a day as an promotion on Android...

Perfect shovelware.  Take a $1 game that was fairly popular on mobile, tack on $29 to the price and voila...3DS release in a retail package.

It's a sad day when handheld games become overpriced ports of mobile apps :(

I hate mobile gaming so much...

Don't you have to tilt the screen in Doodle Jump to move the character? I don't think it would work well in 3D mode on the 3DS, especially if the majority of the gameplay takes place on the top-screen since the 3D works best when the screen is parallel to the user.

Not that I care or anything...

The art set almost reminds me of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

I just went to their website and saw that they only have Doodle Jump. All the rest of their apps is pure crap

@FarginIcehole I hate when developers do that. It's like they think that console games (or handheld) have to cost at least 30-40 bucks, when really, they can't stand up to other titles deserving of that price tag.

"Well, this game is supposed to cost $3, but what the hell, it's on 3DS now, make it $40."

Meanwhile, other games with that price includes Resident Evil: Revelations, Mario Kart 7 and Pokémon X/Y. Guess where my money's going.

@inso-maniac

There's a free (or maybe demo) version on Android/iOS, I think.  This is a port of the mobile game, but with a bigger price tag.

@freedom01

Can't say I've played it, but the screenshots I just pulled up make it look decent, actually.

There's just so few quality experiences out there in the mobile space that I've largely given up on phone/tablet gaming.  It's mostly garbage, clones and cash grabs.  Plus, touch controls really limit the experience

@MHzBurglar @freedom01 yeah, theres only a handful of good mobile games, but the "only touch screen" controls just ruins the games experience
