This morning Nintendo of America announced the DK Rap Attack online contest, a search for the best Donkey Kong rap singer.

The national contest runs through January 14, 2000, and it will let fans and aspiring rap artists download the music from Nintendo's web site and then perform the song in their own style. However, each performance also needs to be videotaped and sent back to Nintendo to be eligible. Songs will be judged on creativity, musical talent, and relevance to Nintendo's Donkey Kong 64 game.

"The Donkey Kong 64 contest is perfect for Donkey Kong fans of all ages who want to share their love of the game," said Peter Main, Nintendo's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "The web site is a jungle full of adventures with new weekly features that greatly extend the entertainment experience."

The winner will be shuttled to Nintendo's offices to record the rap song in a real recording studio. Interested contestants should go to the Donkey Kong 64 web site (see link at right) for more details on entering, prizes, and other DK64-related information and offers.
