Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness Writer Hadn't Watched WandaVision - Report

If you ever thought Scarlet Witch's storylines in WandaVision and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness didn't quite fit together, you're not alone. In fact, Scarlet Witch herself Elizabeth Olsen noticed the quirks while filming the movie sequel.

Speaking with Vanity Fair (and spotted by /Film), Olsen revealed there apparently was a disconnect between the creatives behind Disney+'s WandaVision and the Doctor Strange sequel. "It's a similar arc in Multiverse of Madness that it is in WandaVision. There could be parallel stories being told there of dealing with grief and loss. Well, I proposed that to the writers of Multiverse," Olsen said with a laugh.

"I said, 'Do you know what we're doing in WandaVision? Have you seen it?' And, no, they had not seen it because it wasn't finished yet."

Michael Waldron wrote Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. He also created the Loki series for Disney+ and will pen Avengers: Secret Wars.

Olsen said she decided to approach the Doctor Strange sequel from "a different point of view" to keep things interesting for herself and audiences. A couple of years ago, the actress noted one of the changes was bringing Scarlet Witch's accent back.

Currently, Olsen isn't missing playing Scarlet Witch, though she hopes to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. She's starring in the HBO Max series Love & Death, based on a true story about a Texas murder in 1980.
