With less than a month to go until DJ Hero's October 27 launch, Activision is playing its publicity trump card. After steadily announcing collaborations with such performers as Grandmaster Flash, Cut Chemist, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Daft Punk, the publisher has finally unveiled the game's entire tracklist.

DJ Hero will boast 93 mash-ups of two songs, the majority of which will incorporate at least one hip-hop track. Featured artists will run the gamut of the genre's subcategories and will include such acts as 50 Cent, Afrika Bambaataa, the Beastie Boys, Boogie Down Productions, Common, Eminem, Gang Starr, Jay-Z, Kool Moe Dee, LL Cool J, Masta Ace, Mobb Deep, Public Enemy, Q-Tip, and the late 2Pac.

However, the rap cuts will often be paired with selections from a variety of other genres. The more left-brain couplings include Cypress Hill's seminal 1990s gangsta-rap anthem "Insane in the Brain" mixed with composer David Axelrod's 1960s jazz track "The Edge" and 1990's prog-rappers Jurassic 5's "Jayou" combined with 1980s rocker Billy Squier's "The Big Beat."

Two songs credited with helping found the rap genre in the early 1980s--Herbie Hancock's "Rock It" and Blondie's "Rapture"--will also be included, as will a series of 1970s funk and disco songs heavily sampled by hip-hop DJs past and present. These include the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," Isaac Hayes' "Theme to Shaft," Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music," and InDeep's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life."

From the 1990s and 1980s, the game will offer so-called "hip-pop" acts MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice and rap-influenced R&B groups like Cameo and Bell Biv Devoe. For those preferring hip-hop and R&B of a more recent vintage, the game will offer up Beck, Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, M.I.A., and N.E.R.D.

Fans of straight pop will be able to load up on Third Eye Blind, Gorillaz, Paula Abdul, and Gwen Stefani and her band No Doubt. For rockers, there are tracks by Queen, Foreigner, Foo Fighters, Weezer, and Motorhead.

Curiously, other than 11 tracks from French tech-house act Daft Punk, dance and electronic music is fairly scarce in DJ Hero. Drum & bass trio Noisia, Parisian techno duo Justice, and dance DJs Benny Benassi, Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, and Sandy Rivera are all featured, but in less than a half-dozen mash-ups. Eric Prydz's club anthem "Pjanoo," recently featured in the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, is also in the game, paired with Tears for Fears' 1980s hit "Shout."
