Divekick out on Steam this August

PC version of fighting game out on the same day as PS3 and PS Vita versions.

2D parody fighting game Divekick will be out for Windows PC via Steam on August 20, according to a message on the Divekick Twitter account.

This fighter is out on PC, too.

This version will arrive the same day as the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions. The PC version will also support Steam's Big Picture mode and Steamworks. Earlier this week, the game passed the Steam Greenlight process alongside 15 other games.

Divekick is a distilled fighting game where players have to use just two buttons, dive and kick, to defeat their opponent.

...Why does anyone care about this game? This has got to be the most shallow peice of gaming I have ever seen.

Who REALLY wants this?

pure skill, incredible balance, lots of tactis, I've been waiting for such developed title since I got my first PC. Its much better title than Street fighter X Tekken.

Remember how heart pounding Sudden Death was in Smash Bros? Remember how satisfying it was when you hit the other guy first and won? That is literally every game of Divekick. You people writing this off are either too dumb to understand or to unwilling to understand what makes this game so special and fun.

If they're charging for this thing, then I wish them a lot of luck in getting a few sales...

Interesting concept, we'll see about the execution.

It honestly looks like a lot of fun. Don't see why people are so quick to disapprove of it....

Seriously.. youre gonna play this for 15 minutes and then never touch it again.

Those that are writing this game off have never tried it. It's not near as fun to watch as EVO Finals of UMvC3 or SSF4, but it's plenty fun to play when you get the chance. After playing it at EVO myself two weeks ago I'm sold on it. BRING IT STEAM!!!

Getting this on Vita. Looks soooooo fun. Also it's nice to see a fighting game where the depth isn't based on complexity. Refreshing.

@PlasmaBeam44 No, you see sudden death was amazing because you already went through a heart pounding battle, and THEN you have this one hit and your F'd deal.

This looks straight up RETARDED. I'm not too dumb to understand this very simple concept for a video game.

What I am too "dumb" to understand, is why everyone is getting excited about this pisspoor excuse for a fighting game.

@Patrick Eduarte I'd like to play anything on my sega saturn. I got a model 1 from an ex girlfriend's friend 6-months ago and I haven't done anything with it.

@James Campbell I wish. At least the genre had respect back then.

We never would have gotten this BS back then...

@Ahmad Al-Harbi That's why Capcom Vs SNK was the greatest 2d fighter ever.

@Paul Smith I would rather buy my own excrament at a swap meet.

@Canon100 I do. As do many others. It's a great game and for once it's a fighting game that has depth and requires skill without you having to memorise lots of button combos.

It is better to master two moves than to know 2000.

VenkmanPHD
VenkmanPHD

@Darkmoone1 Because the idea of a fighthing game where all you are doing is stupid jump kicks is ridiculous.

That's not a fighting game, that's 2 idiots jump kicking at eachother till the other guy dies.

Only an imbecile would find entertainment in that.

VenkmanPHD
VenkmanPHD

@WarioMANXX Yeah good, I'm sure you'l be first in line for the new season of interactive seasame street on kinect too.

This game is an insult to gaming.

VenkmanPHD
VenkmanPHD

@burgeg Depth? LMAO

There is no depth to this.

Jump. Kick.
Jump.
Jump. Kick.

DEAD.

Dumbest game ever conceived. I'd rather play Vampire Rain.

PlasmaBeam44
PlasmaBeam44

@VenkmanPHD @PlasmaBeam44  No, Sudden Death was amazing because either person was about to win. The previous match doesn't matter at all. Why should it? It might as well not exist anymore, both of you tied and now it's all down to THIS moment. THAT is what makes Sudden Death heart pounding. What you did before doesn't have anything to do with it.

Yes, this is a very simple concept for a game. It's amazing no one has thought of it earlier. Everyone wants to make a fighting game with hundreds of characters with dozens of moves, but this game strips all of that away and makes this game that requires pure skill, skill that literally anyone can pick up and learn in minutes. That's what makes Divekick amazing. Why don't you get that?

Eraldus
Eraldus

Skill??? All you need is to friggin time your kicks and luck! I hope you're trolling...

PlasmaBeam44
PlasmaBeam44

@Eraldus Yeah, which is exactly what the other guy is doing to. And since it only takes one hit to die, and there is only 15 seconds to a match (and if you time out, whoever is closes to the center of the screen wins), it immediately becomes heart pounding.
