Beauty and the Beast comes to theaters on March 17, 2017. Disney has described the film as a "re-telling" of the animated classic, tailored for a "contemporary audience." It will stay true to the original music, while adding some new tunes as well.

Watson plays Belle, while Stevens portrays the Beast. The films also features Luke Evans as Gaston, alongside Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, and Josh Gad.

A first teaser for the movie was released in May--it didn't reveal much, but check it out here. The movie is directed by Bill Condon, who was behind the camera for the final two Twilight movies.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Disney is also developing a live-action Snow White musical film. This is just the latest in the studio's efforts to reboot its classic animated films in live-action form, with Mulan, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Jungle Book 2 all in the works.

Disney is having a record-breaking year at the global box office. As Variety reports, the studio has made more than $5.85 billion worldwide to date, an all-time best for the company. Although this is short of Universal's mammoth $6.89 billion take in 2015, Disney still has Marvel's Doctor Strange, the animated adventure Moana, and Star Wars: Rogue One set for release over the next two months.
