Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall DLC launches April 16

Story-focused expansion for Arkane's stealth action game arrives next month on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC for $10.

A new Dishonored expansion will launch next month. Bethesda today announced Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall, a new story-focused expansion due April 16 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $10.

In The Knife of Dunwall, players take on the role of Daud, a legendary assassin who killed the Empress. Players will have access to his weapons, gadgets, allies, and supernatural abilities.

"After assassinating the Empress, and forever changing the fate of Dunwall, you embark on a search for redemption. The Outsider reveals the key to your atonement, but who--or what--is Delilah?" reads a line from the content's description.

Players will be accompanied on their trip through never-before-seen parts of Dunwall by the Whalers, a band of mercenary assassins, as they take on "new and terrible" enemies.

The Knife of Dunwall will not be the last Dishonored expansion. Bethesda announced last year that an additional story-focused add-on is also in the works. Bethesda revealed today this content is called The Brigmore Witches, which will conclude Daud's story when it's released sometime in the future.

Dishonored launched in October and was the United States' fourth-best-selling game of the month. It was also the only non-sequel to make the top-10 chart during the month. The game's first expansion--Dunwall City Trials--launched in December.

Great idea for a DLC - playing as a very interesting character that we met in the story.

most overrated game ever. its generic trash, boring story, terrible "stealth mode" and nothing original at all. I dont get all the hype.

I hope it can be played standalone so I don't need to reinstall Dishonored to play this.

One of the few games ever made where the DLC is worth it.

I'm absolutely against DLC but I have to admit...this is going to be the first real temptation to my decision....

This game returned my faith in the gaming industry. I knew I had something special on my hands when i Blinked from one pillar to the next during the Assasination of the secret police guy

have they put in a new games plus yet? if not these guys are absolutely clueless. i dont want all powers unlocked, just the ones i completed the game with, in the beginning, really they are clueless. i took back the game after i beat it because of this reason, wanted to make sure they lost a sale. Starting with rat possesion level 2 in the start doesnt break the game, wake up!

Wow thats bad ass...thanks for adding more value to an already amazing game, but i guess its safe to assume we will be getting a sweet complete edition of this in the near future though.(hope)

Nice... Though I do wish they would make a DLC where you actually get to assassinate the Empress. Maybe they'll make an "alternate reality" where you get to fight Corvo. Either way, this is the first DLC in a long time to actually excite me.

Bout time, just curious as to how long it lasts.

This reminds me of the most legendary expansion ever made. "opposing force" for Half-life.
I'm excited for this

Would be nice if this was stand alone DLC seeing as it doesn't exactly continue the story of Dishonored.

@highlanderjimd Actually it didn't get a lot of hype. A lot of game magazines had little to say on the game until it came out. According to the article above it was only the 4th best seller for the month so I wouldn't think there was a lot of "hype" surrounding it. It got modest reviews because people who played it with sheer force completed the game quickly so I wouldn't say it was overrated. It is, however, a great game for those of us who miss the old days of Thief, the original Assassin's Creed, and games where you actually have to stop and think rather than breathe through your mouth and mash buttons.

@highlanderjimd Well actually a lot of people including myself enjoyed it quite a lot. I thought it was great fun

it really depends on how you play it, and that's where this game shines.  You can plow through it gutting everyone you meet and finish it rather quickly, but the story is darker and the gameplay is more challenging.  You can play through stealhily and non-lethally (which is what you're encouraged to do).  It takes longer, but the game plays out totally differently.  Or, of course, you may play with any combination of stealth action, its really up to you. I would say this is a 20 hour game or so, but you'll probably want to play through a couple of times to see the differences.

SUNDRAGONJ

@marcheegsr idk my best guess is 6-8 hours, not a very long game and the story is predictable, but the gameplay is what is amazing.

@oldschoolvandal Yeah I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with DLC -- in fact I think it can be a very positive thing for a game if done well. The problem is of course (like zodiark said) day-1 DLC that should have been in the game to begin with, and DLC that is too expensive for what it offers.

But in a case like this, assuming you'd be paying 10-15 bucks for somewhere between 4-8 hours of content with a game that you like, that's pretty reasonable. Fans who wanted more will have the option to have more.

@vaillant085 The sell of the game only counts when you buy it new. Are you clueless? The only people that lose money when you return a game is the retailer, wake up!

rasputin177
rasputin177

@vaillant085 Actually, I kinda agree. I felt like I was done with the game by the time I got most of my powers. Maybe not new game plus but something where I could go through missions already having a wide array of abilities would be nice. They could just add new ones to keep choice and progression going.

Celiria_Rose
Celiria_Rose

@vaillant085 are you that clueless? THE BASIS OF THE GAME IS PROGRESSION AND CHOICE. You start with no abilities and then gradually get stronger. You are supposed to have to make choices because you can't ever have everything. New game plus goes completely against that idea and will never be part of the game.

ExtremePhobia

@thereal-15-cent I'm going to take a stab and say that this is exactly how the DLC starts. The screenshot from above shows what looks like two men sneaking up to the spot where Corvo was meeting with Jessamine just before she was killed.

oldschoolvandal
oldschoolvandal

@ Lambchopzin @ evil-zodiark I understand that and agree to some extent but at least for me (even though Dishonored was outstanding) it was a short game. The whole game took no more than 7-8 hours, so I think this is gonna be another 1-2 hour DLC and so I start to question its value again.

Maybe after it's released and there is feedback available, I change my mind.

rasputin177
rasputin177

@jubdeidamasta @vaillant085 In fact. Buying used games from Gamespot (the retailer) is actually exactly what they want and makes them more profit. You could not be more Clueless if you were Alicia Silverstone in the mid 90s.

rasputin177
rasputin177

@jubdeidamasta @vaillant085 HAHAAHAHA. Now THIS is a stupid stupid comment. Having lots of people buy a game used hurts sales which can greatly hurt new IPs trying to justify a sequel. I mean this is just a known fact in the industry. I mean I can't even count how many times I have heard game devs as well as people on this very website talk abou it. Why do you think they have tried so hard to curb used game sales? For the retailer? A truly clueless comment and I have no problem telling you your an idiot because of the bravado and arrogance you make it with.

vaillant085
vaillant085

@soccerpzn @vaillant085 please explain to me how starting in the jail with rat possesion level 2 breaks the game. on a second playthrough. thank you

vaillant085
vaillant085

@Celiria_Rose @vaillant085 I completely agree with you, i dont think you should be able to have all skills unlocked, ever. The experience they intended on the 1st playthrough is preserved, slowly aquiring new powers. That being said I loved the game, a lot, BUT allowing you to go back to a previous level with unlocked skills doesnt break the game, it allows you to experience it in a way that was previously impossible.

rasputin177
rasputin177

@jubdeidamasta @rasputin177  So thats the best you got? I made a mistake with "your" haha you really showed me. Of course buying a game new counts for the Dev I mean whats your point? Buying a game used gives the cash direct to the store.

jubdeidamasta
jubdeidamasta

@rasputin177  It's you're for one. If YOU'RE going to try to insult someone, use the correct wording.  Number 2, Once a game is bought new it counts for the dev, which is what I was implying. I guess I should spelled out each little thing for you.

rasputin177
rasputin177

@vaillant085 @soccerpzn They just want to feel superior. Welcome to any interent forum ever created. Your comment made sense even if they don't agree with you. If your that dead set against it you could just you know start the game over.
