Dishonored adding challenge map DLC

First add-on for Bethesda's new stealth-action game arriving in December for $5, next two story-driven expansions landing in 2013.

Gamers who have finished Dishonored have more content to look forward to. The first of three planned downloadable content expansions for Dishonored will launch in December, Bethesda announced today. The first batch of content is titled Dunwall City Trials, and includes 10 challenge maps for $5.

The new challenge maps will test players' combat, stealth, and mobility skills, Bethesda said. The content also includes new achievements and trophies to unlock, as well as an online leaderboard for players to track their progress against others.

The second and third expansions for Dishonored will launch in 2013 and will be story-focused. Bethesda said the second expansion will focus on Daud, the leader of a legion of supernatural assassins known as The Whalers. This content will arrive during spring 2013. No information was shared regarding Dishonored's third expansion.

Pricing information regarding these add-ons will be announced closer to their release. For more on Dishonored, check out GameSpot's review.

this game was amazing but it was way too short...playing thru on the hardest difficulty nonlethal and ghost, but i'm really excited for this dlc especially the stuff about daud...he seemed like a really interesting character i wish the main game could've fleshed him out a bit more

I beat Dishonored yesterday, great game. Nicely challenging on the hardest difficulty setting as well, only complaint was it could have been bigger, longer. More assassinations, more fleshed out plot. Especially with The Whalers, they seemed interesting and yet all you get involving them is a stupid mission which I think is one of the worst parts of the game.

I welcome this DLC! Bring it on.

I got bored with the game about half way through. I'll consider the story dlc, but I don't give a shit about competitive maps. If you guys want to do better in the game world than me, have yourself some fun, but I'm out. A Bethesda low-point in a great run, if you ask me.

That's not a good idea... putting out dlc so far away like that. Alot of people will have sold or traded the game by then. 2-3 months after release is a good time frame.

On a second note I like the sound of this, the game by default was too easy so hopefully these'll be more difficult. Plus it's the perfect kind of game for challenge maps. I'll probably pay the $5 for this.

I guess I should finally stop throwing bottles at the Loyalists and complete the game.

Ugh I hate challenge maps, they aren't fun. They weren't fun in Batman and they aren't gonna be fun here.

Dishonored gets 10 maps for $5?

Halo is charging 9 Maps for $25 according to yesterdays news.

Good pricing for Dishonored DLC.

I'll check out the story DLC, but just not interested in a bunch of challenge maps.

Single Player with Daud? Guess that means we get that "force pull" power in that expansion.

10 maps for five bucks? And they're challenge maps? Might be the best 5 bucks spent on dlc

Challenge maps seems like something that should have just shipped with the game.  Other story content sounds interesting though.

I praise Bethesda, THIS is the way you "milk" a franchise.  We got a complete game and a memorable story, now, they're building a separate story in the same world to expand it, they didn't need to give us a BOTCHED or "cliffhanger" ending!

they forgot to mention is that it probably won't work for PS3.... sorry, couldn't help myself :P

I like the idea of challenge maps for once. I wasn't very good at the Batman ones. I think will be much better at these. I am glad they are shipping extra content so soon. However I wish these companies would put more content in the game  instead of shipping DLC so soon after release. *Sigh* such is capitalism, I will definitely get this.

 @Vodoo the intention is probably to encourage people keeping the game and not reselling it

sknight175216
sknight175216

 @zaki1305 Nope. It's still Bethesda's game. Just like all the games EA publishes and all the franchises they butcher are theirs. Just like Mass Effect is EA and Bioware and Dragon Age is EA and Bioware, Dishonored is Arkane and Bethesda. So try not to name call when you're the one who is wrong.

Youre the dumb ass, wasting energy on things beyond your control. On top of that, you are misinformed. You're the dumb ass and Bethseda says "hi, thanks for the cash!"

Serpentes420

 @zaki1305 And its not like Arkane is an independent studio that Bethesda is publishing either.  Bethesda owns Arkane, or at least zenimax does

eBentl
eBentl

 @zaki1305

Yes, Bethesda is the Publisher, as such it IS still a Bethesda title as well as Arkane's.

 @ziproy Yeah the Batman maps are not worth paying for ha.They all should have been free. Some were. I'd only pay for an expansion pack not something worthless like say, horse armor. Something like Tribunal and Bloodmoon for Morrowind. But some people really like them enough to buy them so why not? Their easy to make and quick money ha.

SirNormanislost
SirNormanislost

 @SolidTy

 yeah but their challenge maps how many times are you going to play them? compared to the shooter maps that are added into rotation with the others

using batman as an example i messed around with them but i just restarted the game

Fursnake
Fursnake

I should add that the $5 price isn't bad though. If the challenge maps are actually different from the maps in the single player campaign and don't feel thrown together or just rehashed from the original game then I can't say it's a bad buy at $5, just not really the kind of thing I usually pay more money for beyond the full retail price of the game.

 @Dark_Metamorphosis

I found that with excessive use of blink it was normally pretty easy to get around more or less undetected. The music men make things pretty difficult if they spot you.

Reckon it would be better if they had areas where the music always played

Derejin

 @SirNormanislost  @SolidTy Added into rotation with other maps in matches ONLY with other people who have said maps.

You still don't get to play them much. :\

 @Derejin  @SolidTy

well last time i really sat down and played a shooter to death was MW2 and all the maps got rotated equally unless you queue with a friend that doesnt have them and it worked fine although i remember halo3 being annoying because it didnt work that well

oh and BF3 but on the PC theres so many servers and map rotations you can play whatever you like
