DICE: Gamescom will be "one hell of a show" for Battlefield 4

Developer talks up showing for military first-person shooter at German event this month.

by

Battlefield 4 developer DICE has high hopes for the game's showing at Gamescom later this month, according to producer Daniel Matros.

"This will be one hell of a show #gamescom #bf4," Matros tweeted today.

It is not clear what DICE will show of Battlefield 4 during the event.

In addition to Battlefield 4, DICE owner Electronic Arts will show off Titanfall, FIFA 14, The Sims 4, and Need for Speed: Rivals during Gamescom.

Gamescom takes place August 21-25 in Cologne, Germany. GameSpot will be on-hand at the event all week long.

Remember when the game froze when they were presenting it at e3?  Really really face-palm inducing.

They better say no microtransactions...Or the game is doomed to fail.

I bet it's a total let down and a total flop like the Battefield franchise has been for the past several years.

Okay so BF4 is on the Horizon, I'm excited! I'm also very excited to be able to play the Beta as promised to all us fools who purchased the MoH:Warfighter offer - OK DICE/EA, so where the F is it ???????

I'll admit it, Battlefield 4 BLEW MY FUCKING MIND at E3.

looks good. Its like the consoles are actually getting the PC version of BF3, nice job. Im not sure if I give a sht about all the xtra sht with the tablets and smartphones and all the other crazy sht. I meen I actually have other things I have to do in real life, other than devote my whole life to a game.

I hope Gamescom is one hell of a show because in my opinion E3 was subpar at best.

Game still doesnt have any sort of Mod Support, looks great but its never gonna have that replay value such as games like BF2 or TF2. Having customized maps and such keeps things fresh and interesting for many years.  Instead we are forced to buy DLC map packs or just buy the next new game 1 or 2 years down the road.

I think BFs biggest competition will be Titanfall not Call of Duty to be honest, it has the fast paced look of CoD with some of the vehicle interaction being supplied by the Titan suit or whatever it's called.

@Katz Not necessarily true. there WILL be microtransactions in the form of battle packs that offer cosmetic add ons and alternate looks for attachments, think Mass Effect 3. earnable in game as well as buyable.

@AceBalls What they need to do is bring that game engine onto PS4, maybe even PS3, put in Navy SEALs, and title it Socom and make it TPS only.

It will sell like hotcakes.

@AceBalls Sorry it isn't on console so i can't play it. But with BF4 and Next gen consoles I'd play that instead.

@19James89 So, because you didn't like it, it was a flop huh?  Sounds like a heavily biased, and entirely uninformed statement.

@ghostwarrior79 I'm not doubting their ability but creating good enough AI for Battlefield would be close to impossible. They're still having a hard time with TF2.

@ghostwarrior79 How they haven't figured out that people want to practice offline with planes and choppers and that kind of thing yet is beyond me.

@ghostwarrior79 No to all of those but Strike At Karkand.  There is absolutely no reason for Close Quarters to ever repeat itself.  Ever.

1.  Back to Karkand

2.  Atacama Desert

3.  Harvest Day

4.  Arica Harbor

@hishamramzan Just because you don't like them doesn't mean you have to make up arguments against them.

@hishamramzan A company that's been around since 1982 is still around because of only one game. That makes legitimate sense. LOL

@llantaeusll  If you call this E3, which gave us our first look into these next gen consoles and games, subpar, then what the hell do you call the snorefest that was last year's E3? You remember... the one with Usher's concert, and Wonderbook having a 20 minute long presentation O_o

@Kooken58 I Don't know... tbh i don't  think there will be another battlefield for another 2~3 years. They are working on Mirrors Edge(New one) And BATTLEFRONT!

And Their DLCs... Man... I wish they are just upfront about it and give a version that comes with all future DLCs with almost the same price tag

19James89

@AceBalls @19James89 It's boring as hell. Full of campers, full of morons and the campaign modes are shoddy as hell. Could Battlefield 3's story be anymore tedious?

hishamramzan
hishamramzan

@EngieTDR @hishamramzan yeah well most of the games i like were from EA but their latest game franchises are not that good like crysis, army of two, need for speed, command and conquer etc. there latest games are not that good compare to the old ones.

and battlefield is the only one whose latest game is better than the older ones

llantaeusll
llantaeusll

@CrimsonCorp lmbo that was a classic... what you talking about? Just kidding. It was better than last yr which wasn't hard. I just expected to be blown away by next gen games but I wasn't. Just a lot of hype. It looked better but I didn't see why anything special. I remember first seeing the xbox, ps2,ps3,360,dreamcast,gamecube and being excited. I didn't feel that way this time.

Now with all that being said I know its still very early but I am not to hyped about next gen. Next yr it might be a different story but right now I could care less about it. Only two games that really caught my eye for next gen was Infamous and Project Spark.

@EDFXNights @Kooken58 Yeah I just think its kind of rediculous how every single DLC pack is like 15-20 dollars each. Even Bad Company 2 Had a few free map packs.

Kelleyb4947
Kelleyb4947

@EDFXNights @Kooken58 All they have to do is cut out the previous gen fat, upgrade the lighting and character models, and there you go... battlfield 5, or battlefield bad company 3!

@Sarijon @AceBalls I didn't think the SP on BF3 was that bad. I prefer that than BO2 single player.

@19James89 @AceBalls BF3 story? BF is a competitive mp shooter... if you want a good story move on lol.

I felt like the multiplayer map design for BF 3 was pretty weak. It didn't keep me interested for more than a month.

SJGSpook
SJGSpook

@AceBalls I thought the multiplayer was a little underwhelming. A big disappointment for me because EA and  Dice took the series in the wrong direction.

Sarijon
Sarijon

@AceBalls BF has always been more about the MP than the SP but still the story has to be far better than the ridiculous one that was CoD 3, I found that one very difficult to complete due to the stupidity of it.  I Enjoy CoD for its pick-up-and-go run 'n' gun action but I enjoy BF more for its tactical strategic game play. In fact I find there's more camping on CoD than BF, in BF if you camp you can be waiting one hell of a long time before you get a chance to kill.......you may as well not bother playing

AceBalls
AceBalls

@19James89 @AceBalls I agree the story and campaign was mediocre at best. But the multiplayer arena was the best action packed insanity I've ever experienced to date. I'm not that good at the game but man, all that violent destruction and constant bad language is the most fun I've had in gaming as far as I can remember.
